"How are you feeling after that pilates session?" My mom asks as she breathes heavily and I let out a laugh as she tries to regain her breath. "Give me a second."
I watch as she places her hands on her knees before doing some breathing exercise. It has been over a month since we last went to pilates so it's safe to say that it kicked our ass.
When my mom brought up the idea of returning to the class, I was all for it but that muscle memory could not prevent the pain that I felt during the session. It was pretty painful and I was ready to quit after the first move.
"I'm good now." She stands up straight and we start walking towards her car. "How are you feeling after the session?"
"I feel good." I pull a face, "It was pretty tough but I feel somewhat stronger now and I now know that I will not be taking a month long break from pilates again."

Unfortunately for me, I did not grow up with a father present in my life which is so typical. He bounced when I was a baby but I did see him a couple of times during my childhood before he disappeared for good when I was twelve.
I assumed that he would reach out to me when I started blowing up but nothing. I went as far as hiring a private detective to track him down and he is living a new life without me so I had to move on for my own sanity. I just have to live with the fact that my dad wanted to do nothing with me and I'm ok with that now.
My mother and grandparents raised me really well so I credit them a lot for my success.
"God, I feel like I can throw up." My mom laughs and I spot paparazzi standing on the opposite side of the road so I put my sunglasses on. "Do you want to grab a smoothie or some lunch?"
