Have you ever had moonlight beam through you?
Has the sun ever kept you company
During your own eclipse?
I have. They have for me.
And I have you to thank.
You're like a candle on a cake,
The one used to light others.
The one that shares that flame,
While keeping enough for yourself.
The flame that was there the day
You opened your eyes. I'm assuming.
I haven't known you that long.
But I've been told, and have seen,
That you share that light with everyone.
Compassion from the kindest of hearts
Can move mountains, can help guide.
You've helped me see the beauty,
In everything.
But you are fire, and earth.
Yes, earth, because you bring forth such life,
Such vitality into everything around you.
The sky is a brighter shade of blue when he sees you.
Trees sway in the direction of your voice,
Because of the way it uplifts and supports.
You have magic. You bring light,
To the room, to fireflies, to your love's eyes.
I am proud of you constantly,
For your achievements in everything,
Your creations, the way you show your love.
Had I known I would be bestowed
Friends like you in my adulthood
I would have gotten through my teen years
Much easier.
You are air, as well.
You helped me learn to breathe without
Feeling terrible for breathing.
I am growing, and watching you grow
And discover things about yourself
Gives me hope.
It makes me wish to become a person
As wonderful as you, and I do hope
That your generosity in your presence
Will in turn give way to my own compassion.
In short, you inspire me.
It is for this, friend, that I thank you.
