a new start - part 1

Ferndust arose from her den and yawned, stretching her front and back paws out before fully getting up breathing in the cold misty air.

She looked over and saw her apprentice, rabbitpaw still sleeping. Ferndust let out a small sigh before quietly stepping out of the den.

She saw few cats outside before looking up at the sky - ah, that made sense, it was close to midnight.

She looked around the surrounding cats - beetleleap and his apprentice acornpaw where sitting and eating a wren together, robinwing and poppy fur were sharing tongues and foxtail was trying to calm down her two kits that she had recently, riverkit and badgerkit.

Ferndust smiled at the thought of kits - she wanted them but also not, not only because of her role (she enjoyed it very much) but of the responsibly of taking care of them.

She walked over to the clan exit and slipped out, she always went for midnight walks almost everyday but now it just..relaxed her in words.

She liked how the slight cold air ruffled her fur and how the stars twinkled in the night sky.

'Thank you for the lives you have given us and the prey.' Ferndust thought to herself as she wandered. Soon climbing up a tree to look at the sky more clearly.

Ferndust woke up with a jerk..she was still in the tree! And..rabbitpaw?

Ferndust looked down at rabbitpaw before climbing down the tree trunk. "What are you doing here?!" Ferndust said in a low hiss.
"I was curious on where you went!" Rabbitpaw said in a bubbly tone.

Ferndust sighed. "I see, I'm sorry if I worried you." Ferndust apologized, not thinking that that.
"It's okay! I knew nothing would harm you." Rabbitpaw explained

Ferndust became a little suspicious..her apprentice seemed more excited then usual, did she want something? "Is there something on your mind, rabbitpaw?" She asked.

"Uhm.." rabbitpaw looked ashamed for a second. "Can we go to the city?! I heard it's extremely cool!"

Ferndust paused..what cat would tell a medic cat apprentice about the city..? "Who told you about the city?" Ferndust asked in a low tone.

"I'm not sure actually..but it looked like a ginger tom with a collar! His name seemed to be beetle by the tag..? I couldn't quite tell." Rabbitpaw explained.

'Bloodclan..!' Ferndust thought in panic but didn't show it on her face. "No rabbitpaw, the city is dangerous."

"But-! We could fin-" rabbitpaw was cut off. "There will be no herbs in the city, it's full of non healing plants and twoleg rubbish." Rabbitpaw frowned at ferndust's comment.

"Oh.." rabbitpaw said disappointed.

"Now go back to the clan camp! Now!" Ferndust commanded. "Okay!" Rabbitpaw still sounded confident and happy, heading back to the camp.

"The city.." ferndust mumbled to herself once the apprentice left, "why would a bloodclan cat come all the way to the forest to tell a apprentice about the city?" Ferndust continued to mutter, pretty confused by now.

"I'm not sure but I'm going to find out." Ferndust nodded to herself, heading out to the city.
