I remember the day when she was here beside me. We were laughing and having the time of our lives with no cares in the world. We were in a back alley at the moment when we heard a noise. We brushed it off and continued fooling around. Suddenly we heard it again, we didn't know what it was, but it was starting to get creepy. We heard it a few more times and then we decided to leave. As we were too scared to look back. We started to run towards my house. When I have to my front yard she wasn't with me, I thought she was just a bit behind me until I heard her scream. I hate talking about that day it's been two months, but I remember every single detail as if it were yesterday. The police have came to the conclusion that she was no longer alive. The search for her was over and there was no way that I would ever see her again. Anyway my name is Tristen and my friend I was talking about is Hope. She was my best friend and we hung out every day. Even though the cops have cancelled their search I am still trying to find who did this to her? Today I was researching Hope's case in class and this guy who sits behind me Cody, saw what I was doing and wanted to help. I said yes because maybe he could help me find the killer. Cody was the kind of guy that is really sweet and funny, but doesn't have a lot of friends After school, me and Cody met up in the computer lab so I could tell him what I knew so far.
All I knew at the time was that it was a man who looked around 5'7 or 5'8 and has brown hair. Cody thought we might find something that was left behind at the crime scene.
When we got there I had so many different things going through my head about that night, memories of Hope and how much I miss her. Cody must have noticed my discomfort because he asked me if I was fine. We started to search for anything that might have something to do with that night. Cody called me over, he said he found something that probably fell out of the killers pocket. In his hand he has a piece of paper written on it.
On the piece of paper it said (236)-553-2979. I realized it was a phone number and I was about to call it until Cody stopped me. I got mad at him for not letting me do it. He explained why he stopped me, he was explaining if we use our phones he could easily track us down and he said it would be a good idea to use this phoning app and double-check to make sure it didn't show names or have any way of tracking us down.
The last few days had been me and Cody playing around with the app and trying everything we can to figure it out because if a couple of eighth grades could figure it out, I would think that someone around the age of 30 will know how, especially since he is a criminal. We finally called the number expecting a man's voice, but instead we heard a young ladies voice. I recognized the voice right away; it was Hope! It sounded like her, but it didn't. Normally she is so happy and energetic, now she sounded like a tired, worn out Hope. Cody kept asking her questions about where she was and what happened, and every time her answer was the same thing, "He's watching, be careful you might be next". Suddenly we heard a man's voice demanding to know who it was, and Hope wouldn't tell him. It went completely silent until we heard a scream ... the line went dead. Clooked at eachother and paused. I suddenly started dialing the cabstand number. Cody went and got some walkie talkies and some other supplies we would need. We waited, which seemed like forever for the cab. It finally showed up and we told him the location. He told us that it was about a 2 hour drive it isn't even in our town it's in the middle of nowhere. We decided to go anyways before they leave. When we got there after 2 long awkward hours in the cab we finally got there. Cody payed the cab driver and we just stood there looking at the creepy old house. Cody told me the plan was simple we would each have a walkie talkie and go split up to find them and when we find them let eachother know because the walkie talkie has trackers that is built in. WE went in not knowing what we would find. It reminded me of a horror story house. We went our separate ways as plan and started walking around slowly and unsure. Cody called my name through the walkie talkie and scared me. He told me that he found her, and to hurry. I suddenly used the tracking devices to find where he was. He was just staring at this girl that was beaten up and looked like she hadn't eaten in days. As I look closer I notice the face, it was Hope. She was Straped up to this wall with belts and chains, and her mouth was duck taped so I couldn't even ask her questions until we got her. I started walking closer to her and started to get her down. Once she was totally down i heard the guys voice again. I should've ran but I decided to stay. He kept walking closer and closer and Codykept telling me to run, but me and Hope stayed. He came into the room we were in and it was none other than my dad. He called out my name again and again in question. Of course he doesn't know that it's me he got put in jail for abusing me when I was 3. I wouldn't have known that, but my teachers asked me if I was okay about what happened and explained to me the situation. I'm glad she did because my mother would never tell me the truth. He came up to me and went in for the hug, but I pushed him away. I started screaming at him about why he would do something so stupid. It's not like it's his first time doing it so why would he try again unless he wanted to go back to jail for some reason. I didn't understand why he would do something like this. He was going to explain, but then I cut him off took Hope with me and Cody followed behind. I was starting to call a cab, but then Hope started crying. I was worried so I asked her what was wrong. She told me that it's time that she tells me the truth. She told me that her and my dad have been seeing each other since he got out of jail. Not just seeing him around, but actually dating. I think that is sick they're 16 years difference, plus she's my best friend and he's my dad. I march straight back into the house and start screaming at him. Telling him that he is still married and their 16 years difference and saying how it's so wrong. Suddenly I heard something. I look behind me and there's Hope laying there, dead. She couldn't handle the stress of this all so she used one of the torture machines and used it to kill herself, it wasn't pretty. My dad was on his knees crying in front of her dead body. I ran outside crying and Cody chased after me. He called the cops and told them the address and what had happened. The cops got there a few minutes later with the ambulance I saw my dad get arrested and he left in the cop car. Then, what I saw next was the worst thing I could ever, her body. She slowly Got pulled away in a stretcher. I started crying she was alive after all this time, and when I finally find her she ends up killing herself. Cody noticed that I was so upset I could barely move so he called the cab and when it came he directed me into it. Wesat for a while not knowing what to do then suddenly he leaned over and kissed me. He apologized and said he just needed to do that. The rest of the ride home was me and him jamming out to some pop music on the radio. Now three weeks later, we haven't talked about anything that happened that day, not even the ride home in the taxi. I think that was for the best, even though we could've been something.
