Preface-Tam

Tam had been hurt enough. His sister had been hurt enough. Everyone had been hurt enough for a lifetime.

He didn't know why he was helping after the Councillors banished Linh. But what he did know was that he was doing what Linh would want him to do. Even what the Councillors would what his to do. The right thing.

When each battle against the Neverseen was worse, he got stronger. 

Even if he didn't like shadowflux, he could use it.

At first, he only got stronger for his twin. For Linh. But now he was going too strong for the world.

He was tired of losing. Against his parents. Against the Neverseen, against the world. But when it was his turn, he would win. For him, his twin, and for everyone. 

Tam Song wasn't going to pretend that nothing happened between him, his twin, and the twelve Councillors. But instead, it would fuel him, give him something to fight for.

If Tam got lost in the battle forever, he would make one last stand. One last chance for them to win. One last chance to make things right. He would make a last stand, for his twin. For the Black Swan. For the world. It wasn't his time now, but when it was, he would make it count.

For Linh.

For everyone.

He wouldn't let them break him.
