Dearest Everything,
I will never forget what Jim Morrison said to me on February 20th of 1968 on my 16th birthday: "you're too sweet to be ruined with pot".
Though he then proceeded to teach me how to roll joints and ended up taking my virginity. Jim Morrison was a character. I wouldn't tell more on the subject because there isn't much I could say, despite him having confided in me in room 606 about all of the immense emotions that he was feeling (I knew he was a poet but that was some deep shit) before passing out, head on the table, one hand holding a glass bottle of beer, and the other a joint. Lost, I ended up walking down to the hotel lobby and then all the way back home at what was about 2 am. Though my parents yelled at me the next day, it was easily the best birthday ever.
Right now I'm sitting on the bed in Jennifer Handelles room. Jennifer, or Jen as we all called her, was a friend of mine, who really wasn't. After all, it was her who ruined my chances of seeing the Beatles in 1966 when she didn't want to go "because the Rolling Stones are better". The problem was that Jen had the tickets and she wouldn't give them to me, which is how I ended up missing the last performance of the Beatles. I'm still waiting for one to come around, and when it does I will be in the front row seat.
"Blue or Red?" Jen holds out two dresses and holds them against herself as if that will somehow influence my decision.
"Doesn't matter, it all looks black in the dark." I reply and she gives me an irritated look before throwing the blue one on to the bed and heading to change in to the red. "It's sexier", she says before leaving.
I just checked my watch and the time is 6:40
giving us 20 minutes to be at the Zeppelin show, a birthday gift from Jen. As if that will ever make up for Candlestick Park.
I'll tell you about the show later I've got to go now and I hate writing in the car (it makes my handwriting all wobbly and ugly).
Love,
Ashton Bell
