Ash's Journey My Way

Chapter 1

"Well Pikachu, we're finally back in Pallet Town." Ash says with a soft smile looking over the hill at his hometown with his starter pokemon. "Pika Pi!" Pikachu says happily. "Race you to my house, and no cheating!" Ash says running ahead with Pikachu by his side. "Pika!" Pikachu says with his eyes narrowing in determination to win the race. They both race to Ash's house when they were getting close to it, Pikachu uses Quick Attack to reach it before Ash does. "Hey! No fair Pikachu! I said no cheating! That means no moves!" Ash exclaims when he runs up to house. Pikachu laughs at Ash while Ash shakes his head while opening the door to his house. "Hey Mom! I'm back!" Ash calls out and hears nothing in reply. "Mom?" Ash calls out looking for her in the house. Ash goes to the kitchen and finds a note on the table. Ash picks up the note and reads aloud. "Dear Ash, if you're home and reading this it means that I am still out getting groceries. Mr. Mime is also with me. Be back later so you tell me all about your adventures in Sinnoh. Love, Mom." Ash reads to himself and Pikachu. "Well since Mom is out for a little while, let's go to the Professor's lab and say hello to all our friends." Ash tells Pikachu while leading the way out. "Pika!" Pikachu agreeing with Ash and running ahead. "Pikachu wait up!" Ash says running after Pikachu. The duo reach the pokemon lab in record time. "Pikachu I know your excited, but warn me next time!" Ash says kind of annoyed. Pikachu smiles innocently at the comment. Ash knocks on the door and it opens to reveal a middle-age man. "Hey Professor Oak." Ash greets with smile. "Why Ash it's good to see you!" Professor Oak says returning the smile. Professor Oak lets Ash in the house and Ash sees a map on the table. "The Unova region?" Ash reads in confusion. "Ah yes a region just south of here and west of Hoenn." Professor Oak says answering Ash's unasked question. "Do they have a league?" Ash asks with curiosity. "Yes but it starts in a year and half due to some incidents" Professor Oak answers Ash's question in amusement. "Cool! By the way, where's Tracey?" Ash asks looking around for a certain pokemon watcher. "He went to Cerulean City to visit Misty." Professor Oak replies. "Gary still in Sinnoh or is he somewhere else?" Ash asks about his friend/rival. "Gary went to Hoenn to study some of the ancient ruins there." Professor Oak answers with a smile. Professor Oak decides to change the topic. "How do you feel about your placement in the Lily of the Valley Conference?" Professor Oak ask with a thoughtful concerned face. Ash sighs remembering his lost while Pikachu looks down remembering as well. "To be honest, I felt I should have trained my pokemon more. I know they all tried their best, but when I was facing Tobias Darkrai and Latios, I knew my pokemon weren't ready for the battle. I tried anyway to see where they stood to know where they can improve though, but the lost relies on me and not my pokemon. " Ash replies in a downcast tone. Professor Oak nods his head. "Understandable way of thinking, so what is your plan for the next four months and when you go to Unova?" Professor Oak asks already knowing Ash will go to Unova. "My plan for the next year and a half is to train all my pokemon. This time I plan to use all my pokemon in the Unova league and my Unova pokemon that I catch there as well as any pokemon that I catch along the way." Ash says with a smile. Professor Oak smiles while nodding his head in agreement. "Wise plan Ash" Professor Oak replies and Ash looks at Pikachu with determination. Ash then thought of something. "Hey Professor Oak?" Ash asks the professor. "Yes Ash?" The old professor asks in return. "Is there a way where I could hold more than six pokemon? I know the league rules say that I can only use 6 pokemon in battle but it doesn't mean I can't carry more than 6 pokemon on me." Ash asks then explains his thinking. Professor blanks for a moment then facepalms. "I knew I forgot something." The professor mumbles loud enough for Ash and Pikachu to hear. Ash and Pikachu look confused at the statement. "You see, after Johto you became an elite trainer because of you handling your pokemon well and you are now an experienced trainer. Since I'm your handler, I was supposed to give you a device to let you carry all of your pokemon on you. That way when you switch pokemon whenever and wherever you are so you don't have to wait until you get to the pokemon center to trade out your pokemon. I was supposed to give it to you before you left for Hoenn, but I forgot to." Professor Oak says with a sheepish smile when he sees Ash give a twitch in annoyance. "But I will give you the device now." Professor Oak says while going over into a different room. Ash turns to Pikachu and sighs. "Okay while he is getting that. Let's make a plan." Ash says to Pikachu. Pikachu nods. "Okay first thing tomorrow we need to go to route 1 and go back for Pidgeot. I made a promise to go back for her. Then Saffron City to get Haunter from Sabrina. Next is Celadon City where the Grand Prix is to get Primeape. Then to Allevue town to pick up Squirtle. Then on the way back we can catch new pokemon. We will then go to Mount Silver to train." Ash says and Pikachu nods his head in agreement. "That is a good plan, but if you are planning to get Squirtle back then you will have to go to Kingstone Town to get him. Kingstone Town is located near Fuchsia City. I can call Liza from Charcific Valley to get Charizard for you. Be careful when you reach Mount Silver. That place is crawling with aggressive strong pokemon." Professor Oak says coming into the room with a box. "That would be great Professor! Thanks! I will be careful." Ash says in return then looking at the box. "Oh yes." Professor says answering the unasked question. Professor Oak gets a gauntlet that looks similar to a capture gauntlet that pokemon rangers that Ash met had on. "This is the Trainer gauntlet. This will allow you to carry all your pokemon on you and trade them out whenever and wherever, call people you met if you need something, has a map, and has memo pad to write things you need and pokemon tips you need to remember." Professor explains as he hands the item to Ash. Ash puts the gauntlet on his left wrist and turns it on and goes through the list of phone numbers. "I see you put your phone number on here already." Ash says while seeing his phone number. "I also put your mother's phone number as well as your past travel companions and all the important people you met so you could keep in touch with them. Lance and Cynthia also told me to put them in because they know all the trouble you run into like evil organizations like Team Galactic and Team Rocket. I also want you tell me about all the legendary pokemon you meet because you somehow meet them whenever you are on a journey." Professor Oak explains hiding his jealousy of Ash seeing more than one legendary pokemon. Ash looks happy at the fact of new legendary pokemon. "Thanks Professor!" Ash exclaims happy. Ash then exits the lab and entered the Oak Corral with Pikachu following behind in excitement. Ash notices his Bulbasaur having a conversation with other grass types. "Hey Bulbasaur!" Ash calls out grabbing the attention of Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur turns around to see Ash. Bulbasaur eyes sparkle in excitement and starts charging towards Ash. Bulbasaur tackles Ash in hug with Pikachu joining in. "Long time no see Bulbasaur! How have you been?" Ash says with a smile. "Bulba Bulbasaur!" Bulbasaur says in happiness. "That's great Bulbasaur! Hey can you summon all of our friends with your solar beam?" Ash asks and Bulbasaur nods happily. Bulbasaur fires solar beam into the sky and goes off like a firework. Ash, Pikachu and Bulbasaur start conversing with each other while waiting for the pokemon. Ash hears a rumble behind him and turns around to see his pokemon charging at him with excitement. Ash begins to panic when his pokemon tackle him. "It's great to see you too, but I need to breathe!" Ash calls out laughing a bit feeling his pokemon trying to hug him. Ash's pokemon step back to give Ash some room to stand. Ash then calls out the pokemon he had on him except Pikachu. Staraptor, Infernape, Torterra, Buizel, and Gible pop out calling a greeting in their language. Ash coughs to get everyone's attention. Ash begins to explain the plan that he has for the year and a half. "You all with me?" Ash asks with a grin. Everyone roars in agreement. "Gible since you are a more recently caught pokemon you'll get some extra special training so you can catch up with the others. I'm not saying you're weak, I'm saying we haven't been together too long and only recently mastered Draco Meteor." Ash says in a kind tone and received a nod from Gible. Ash then hears a roar in the distance. Ash looks behind him and looks up to see his Charizard off in the distance. "Hey Charizard!" Ash calls out in greeting with a wave. Ash receives a flamethrower to the face. Ash chuckles shaking the soot off his face with his pokemon laughing in the background. Charizard lands in front of Ash and mumbles. "Oh so your training in Charcific Valley is over?" Ash asks with a raised eyebrow. Charizard nods his head. "Congratulations!" Ash says then turns to his other pokemon. "Alright get a good rest because tomorrow we head out to Route 1 to reunite with an old friend. Hopefully she won't be mad..." Ash announces and then mumbles at the end hearing snickers from his elder pokemon who knows the old friend while the others look at Ash with confused eyes. "Don't worry about who is being chosen about going with me because, due to a long overdue device that I should have received before going to Hoenn, I can bring all you with me." Ash says with a huff of annoyance at the forgetfulness of the Professor. You could hear the loud cheering from Oak Corral in Sinnoh.
