I step into Jake and Dorthey's waiting for my coffee that I ordered beforehand. "Jack!" I see an old highschool buddy of mine walk up to me, "Hey Ryan, how've things been going for you?" He looked at me with wonder in his eyes.
"You've grown quite a bit since we last saw each other." He's right, I have grown a bit since highschool, I needed to be for Scarllett.
"Yeah, things happened and I needed to be more mature, I can't be that immature 18 year old anymore." I finished my sentence when the door rang. Ryan was staring at the person who walked in, "Why are you staring.." I turn around to see the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. My eyes couldn't, wouldn't leave her.
"Hey!" fingers were snapping in my face "Jack!" I pull my eyesight towards the source of the noise.
"H-Huh?" he looked at me with a smirk, "You've been staring at her for 10 minutes," he wiggled his eyebrows in an up and down motion, "Go on!! Ask for her number!!"
God, I feel like I'm in highschool again. I internally roll my eyes. I couldn't approach her, I may have been the "get the girl" kinda guy in high school but I can't now, not with Scarllett. "You saw her first you go get her number."
He didn't think twice, he walked with pride over there but before he could get there she held a hand up. "If you think about asking me for, 1. My number or 2. To ask me on a date, Sorry but no. Not Interested." I started to chuckle at his reaction to the predicament he got himself into. He looked at her dumbfounded with his mouth wide open as she continued to stare down at her phone typing away at what seemed to be a text message judging from her fast typing and her gorgeous, tanned, freckled face.
Her auburn brown hair fell over her beautiful face. She looked up with a bored expression "Can you leave? I'm trying to read peacefully without being bothered." She pointed to her book from what I could see, it is 'Infinitely Yours' .
It's a good book. I read it once or twice before. I was never much of a reader before my parents passed away, but raising Scarlett she kinda is the little book worm even for being only 7. So far she's read 'Gone with the Wind' twice and is currently reading 'The Hobbit' .
I'm actually quite impressed. She gets that from my mom, she had shelves upon shelves of books. Sadly, they caused too much pain for me to look at so I ended up boxing them up and leaving them in the attic.
"Jack"
I woke up from my trance, "Yeah?"
He stared down at me "Go use your charm to get her, she's your type of girl."
I scoffed and started towards the counter, "When pigs fly."
He followed me "Come on man!! You're what? 24? Come on!! Go get em' Tiger." he finished his sentence and pushed me towards her table. I stumbled but caught my balance.
She stared up at me, "Can I help you?"
"Uh-Uh" I cleared my throat, "Um, My name's Jackson, But people call me Jack. What's yours?"
She glared at me...Damn she's scary. "Listen here, Jack was it? I'm not int-"
"Thank god!!" I put my hand on my heart and throw my head back.
She raised one eyebrow at me as if to say, what? "Excuse me?"
"Sorry, I'm sure you're nice and all, but I was pushed by one of my friends who was over here a few seconds ago." She stared at me, confused, but smiled anyway. "Oh, well..Hi" she stuck her hand out for me to shake, "Im Juniper, Juniper Deleany." I shook her hand and smiled.
"Nice to make your acquaintance, Juniper."
