I lay in the hammock, looking up at the starry sky. Never once, had I imagined the moon so big and bright. Or the amount of stars in the sky. There were millions, maybe even billions. All winking down at me.
The cool winds from the lagoon just a few meters away, caresses my body. It makes me shiver with pleasure. I swing one leg over the side of the hammock and quickly follow suit with the other. I put both of my bare feet on the warm white sand. I can feel the sand in between my toes as I start walking toward the lagoon.
The water is aquamarine, and the purity and beauty of it are easily visible, even in the night. The moonlight illuminates enough to see, but not as brightly as possible. I remove the only clothes on my bare body- a blanket. It drops somewhere in the sand behind me as I reach the beginning of the lagoon.
The warm waves are crashing against my toes, and I shiver again. I slowly walk forward, my long brown hair tickling my back. Smiling, I advance further into the water. Pretty soon, the warm water is up to my neck as the white moonlight falls around me in the shape of a halo.
I shut my eyes and memorize this feeling- of safety, warmness and non-loneliness. I take deep breathes, with my eyes still closed, until I hear a throat-clearing. The moment has past. My eyes snap open, as I realize in panic- now, there is no safety.
Only fear. Fear from the man only a few steps away from me. He looks darker than the night, in his black skinny jeans, black boots and a black leather jacket. Even in the night, he is wearing sunglasses, but I know the cruel water-green eyes behind the glasses. The eyes that hold no warmth.
Only hate.
Hate for me.
