ginas pov

one day later:
me and ashlyn met up after school to talk about our roles. she got mrs potts and was super excited. i actually found that i enjoyed her company and she made me feel safe. that was until she said this
"can i tell you something no one else knows?"
this scared me, i wanted to say no but i knew if i did, i would regret it. i needed to know what she wanted to tell me.
"sure... what's up?"

"ej is sorta my cousin"

i was speechless. i didn't know how to respond. my mind went blank.

"why haven't you told me or anyone else before?" i ask which then she responds with

"i used to be embarrassed and once i started telling people (when i wasn't embarrassed) they didn't believe me"

"oh, well i believe you" i say as calmly as i can.

ashlyn then states that ej is coming over tonight and that i should stay over. i wanted to say no (again) but i couldn't. she had been too nice to me recently. i felt welcomed. i decided to stay over.

ejs pov

as i get home from waterpolo i receive a text from ash. "can you come over tonight?" she asks me this quite often. her parents and my parents are typically always out of town together, so we decide to get together. do i respond with sure and head home to take a shower. as soon as i get to my door, ash texts me again and says "can you come now?" great i will have to take a shower there. hopefully no one else is over.

i arrive at her house and am surprised to be greeted by the new girl. gina porter. i was still in my sweaty jersey so i felt a little embarrassed.
"hey gina, have you seen my cousin?"

ginas pov

while waiting for ejs arrival we sat on the couch and watched the live action beauty and the beast to further develop our characters. then we heard a knock on the door. i open it to find ej standing on the porch. he ask where ashlyn was and i point to her sitting in the couch with a bucket of popcorn. he was still in his jersey which i was kind of confused by. then he told us that he was going to go and get a shower. while he was walking up the stairs, i walked and got myself a root beer. later i realized i had left my phone upstairs. i ran up to get it when i heard ej about to come out of the bathroom. i grab my phone quickly and run down before either of us could see each other. that was a close one. i need to stay focused.
