– y/n's POV –

The first thing that I saw when I opened my eyes was Edmund's worried face.

"Y/N!" Edmund shouted. "Oh, thank Merlin! How are you feeling?"

Then I remembered the reason I fainted. The face. The man.

"Edmund! It's him!" my voice trembled.

"What do you mean 'it's him'?" Edmund tried to calm me down. "Just relax, lay back down."

"Is Krum here?" I asked.

"...No, he had to go to his practice."

"Well, good." I sighed. "Edmund,"

"Yes?" Edmund's eyes always eased my anxiety.

"It was him. The man who stole my mother's necklace," it was getting difficult to breath again.

"Y/N, slow down. Breathe." Edmund sat by the bed and held my shoulders. "You must have mistaken him... Are you sure?"

I nodded. "I've never forgotten his face. Not once in my life... What am I gonna do now? I've waited all this time to find him and he's just... there."

"Shh.. shh... it's going to be fine..."

8 months later

"Y/N, you've been doing this for almost an entire year now. He never comes out," Edmund whispered, joining me behind a column, watching Mcleech's chamber.

"And I've been telling you that I can do this by myself, Edmund" I replied. "Seriously, go back to your dorm."

"What if you get caught and get suspended or whatever for sneaking out every night?" Edmund's voice got louder. "And also, why am I the worried one? Why am I here and not Krum?"

I didn't respond.

"Wait, you still haven't told Krum?" asked Edmund. "Is he even your boyfriend?"

"Something like that," I breathed deeply. "By the way, as I've said before, I never asked you to be here and second of all, I'm not telling Krum about this. He's just–"

"Shh–"Then Edmund blocked my mouth with his hand. "He's out."

I quietly stood up and watched him lock the door and leave.

"I'm going after him," I walked towards the hallway he'd disappeared into.

"Here goes nothing," Edmund sighed and followed me from behind.

But when we reached the corner, I had to stop.

"Is that... Karkaroff?" I whispered.

"Karkaroff?" Edmund hovered over me, poking his head out to see the two men standing together. "What do you think they are talking about?" he whispered.

"Shh! I'm tryna listen," I pulled out my wand, and pointed it at my ear. "Meliorem."

"I wanna hear too," said Edmund.

So I pointed my wand at his ear and cast the spell again. "Meliorem."

"Wow, this is the best spell ever. I can actually hear a lot better." Edmund sounded amused. "By the way, that rhymed."

"Shut up, Edmund." I tried to focus.

"...needs to be protected at all costs," Mcleech's voice echoed in my ear.
