Greetings!

First things first, a warm welcome to everyone proceeding to read this book. The idea about this storyline has been in my mind for ages, but after coping up with procrastination and work burdens I finally present to you my dearest piece of fiction.

There are a few important points I'd like to convey before you start reading the oneshot (which is in the next chapter) so I request you to patiently read and understand them in a considerate manner.

This story features a brief connotation of sign language.

There isn't a strong emphasis in using gestures to converse throughout the entire length of the book, although the need to use sign language in the text is because Taehyung is depicted 'selectively mute' in this scenario.

Please be informed that Taehyung does possess a voice in this story.

Yes, Taehyung can produce a sound from his vocal chords, which means he can speak. However, the reason he is labelled mute is because he's been diagnosed with a condition called Asperger's syndrome (a mild subtype of autism spectrum disorder or ASD) that affects his socialising skills, although he significantly performs well in academics due to greater IQ. Hence he faces difficulty in expressing himself and communicating his feelings with others.

People who mostly have speech development disorders are unable to comprehend and interpret language and emotions as easily as general population and often have a tendency to stray away from social crowd out of trauma, social anxiety or both.

Therefore, Taehyung in this story prefers to be selectively mute out of these problems and mostly stays isolated; there's also a mention(?) of ableism among others.

✩ TMI: Elon Musk is another famous personality who is revealed to be having Asperger's as well.

No, this fiction is not promoting ableism or the stigma and prejudices against autistic people.

Naturally, I am not trying to neither glorify nor mock any types of physical, mental nor social disabilities.

As a person suffering with anxiety myself, I have had a hard time to trust others and have been betrayed by my dearest colleagues (some of who shadily lurk around without a slightest ounce of shame, unfortunately); therefore please do not misinterpret the message I'm trying to give with this piece of fiction.

Also I'd like to state that all the autistic characteristics that make up Taehyung's personality in my book are simply picked up from the internet so there's a high chance that I might have made certain mistakes/inaccuracies.

I don't have any particular songs that match the theme; in fact the major inspiration that struck me this idea was after I binge watched the BTS:LY highlight reel and the film, Forrest Gump. So I decided not to include a playlist this time hehe😅
