Hey there! Welcome to my first fanfic. I haven't ever written one before so I hope you can excuse any literacy mistakes I'm making. (Feel free to correct me in a comment though! I welcome constuctive criticism.) But I'm happy you chose to read the first installment to my Danganronpa Rarepairs series. If you want to recommend a fic or oneshot to add to this series, please message me or leave a comment of the last chapter in this fic. (Authors Note) Anyway, I'll let you read now. Thank you and I hope you enjoy! <3
Chiaki held her head down instinctively as if she was still looking at her game console in her hands. But today, there was nothing for her to look at other than the movement of her own feet walking through the entrance of Hope's Peak.
Her game console had been through a lot ever since she bought it many years ago. Everything from hitting it against the wall when she tripped over old games she left stacked up in the hallway, or forgetting to set it down while she was taking a shower, the poor thing went through it all unharmed. But over the weekend it had enough.
She was walking down the stairs of her apartment complex when she misstepped and almost tumbled down the stairs. She let go of the console to catch herself on the hand railing. So instead, the console was the one that went tumbling.
She remembers entering the repair shop later that day with tears streaming down her face.
Chiaki cringed at the thought as she unlocked her locker and changed into her school shoes.
I'm usually so careful with my game console and have only had a few mishaps where I've damaged it. But now I wonder if I'll be getting it back at all.
Finally pushing the thought aside, she continued on her walk to her classroom.

The classroom seemed even louder today than it usually was. Today, it was as if everyone was running around and yelling. But when she had her console, it felt as though she was in her own little world.
I was probably just distracted by my console, so I never noticed how loud it was in here.
She took her seat and quietly waited for Ms. Yukizome to arrive. As she had quickly gotten lost in thought, she jumped in her seat when she heard a familiar voice call her name.
"Hey, Chiaki!" It was Souda, standing in front of her desk, Tsumiki just a few steps behind him. "Whatcha up to?" Souda asked.
"Oh, hi Kazuichi. Sorry, I was just spacing out," Chiaki smiled at him.
"I noticed you weren't playing on your GameGirl for once, are you sick or something?"
Mikan let out a small gasp behind him, "Kazuichi! Y-you shouldn't be so blunt,"
"Sorry..." Souda scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment.
Chiaki gave an awkward laugh, "N-no it's okay, I know you didn't mean anything wrong. I just broke it this weekend so it's getting repaired right now."
"I see, that makes sense," Souda said.
"B-but you know Chiaki, you are on your c-console a lot. I think it's important to rest your e-eyes occasionally y-you know?" Tsumiki jumped into the conversation.
Chiaki frowned, "Oh..."
"B-b-but that's just my take! I-I know you're the Ultimate Gamer so It's perfectly normal and p-probably better for you to be-"
"No Mikan, It's alright! I completely understand what you mean," Chiaki tried to calm the panicking nurse down. "Besides you're right, I need to take a break from games every once and awhile. Or I'll be too tired to play at my best. It's just like refilling your HP in a video game!"
