37: The News

It was a few days after Raven and Damian came back from their getaway. They were sitting on the rooftop looking at the sunrise.

I have a gift for you. Raven said handing him a box. It was a simple gold chain. I don't know what to get you. So I got nothing simple. Raven blushed.

Damain puts it on and kisses raven on the lips. I have something to do.

Dami I don't need anything. Why did you get me something? Raven pouts.

You will like it I promise. Damain sends opening a black velvet box. With the ring, she was looking at. The black gem and green eyes remembering her of her lover.

Are you proposing? Raven asked shocked. Damain chuckled a bit.

I love it. Raven said hugging him. Damian puts it on and she admires it. It's perfect. Raven squealed.

They both get up and walk down to the training room. A clock was on the wall showing. 0 months 1 day 19 hours and 52 minutes till the big battle.

It's almost over. Raven breathed under her breath. It's almost done she walked down the steps and they got ready for training.

god, I love you down there. Damian whispered. raven turned red. they both hear someone clear their voice. Damian gets up quickly cause Giovanni is looking at both of them.

Oh uh hi grandfather. Raven chuckled softly. What's the problem.

the media is wondering what happened to Zatanna. Giovanni said. can't say anything. we have to come clean.

raven looks at her grandfather. okay. I think you are right. ill ask Louis to set up an interview or something telling the people about Zatanna. Raven breaths heavily for a second.

Giovanni nods. I'll plan it for later today. he leaves the tower and raven stops training for a bit. she walks into the kitchen and gives herself some water.

dick comes in after her. you know I haven't seen my mom since the cemetery. and I don't know what to do.

do you think a funeral will be the best option? dick looked at her. seems like that's the plan already.

Bruce brings Zatanna out of the capsule. she was placed and cold. raven and the rest of the team and most of the justice league were dressed in black. Giovanni brings a casket they place Zatanna's body in they go out of the building of the Gotham cemetery and walked to her headstone. raven walking the back for the crowd. her healed held high. Like her mother wanted.

raven looks up and sees the clouded sky darker. like something in was coming. she knew what was coming. she just did want to say it.

we are gathered on a very sad day. Giovanni started his speech as everyone sat in their seats. raven was aginst a tree hiding from people. Damian looked around and tried to find his girlfriend. she just stayed hidden.

My daughter Zatanna is no longer with us. Giovanni said. she died saving he daughter with all he heart. my granddaughter held her body close to her as she said goodbye. Giovanni's voice cracked as he spoke.

losing my daughter is just as hard as losing my wife. I love my daughter. and I know she was at peace knowing her daughter was here and safe. Giovanni said.

raven felt tears warm her eyes. she takes a deep breath. Giovanni finishes as people start to pray their respects and Clark and Bruce started to bury her. Raven looks over and her eyes. start to water. No crying. not anymore. she said to herself.

the funeral was over and the people left paying Giovanni their respects and worries. raven stood under the tree. raven held herself as she looked at her mother's headstone.

the titans were left. raven just stood and looked at the headstone. donna walked by her side and held her hand. we should head home. raven looked at her beast friends

Raven...Cry. Donna said holding his best friend. Raven hugs her back. she soothes her friend's hair. She holds her hand. She shakes her head.

I can't. No crying. Raven looks that her best friend. If I cry I don't think I'll stop.

Donna hugs her tighter. They all go back to the car. Raven sit in the back next to Damian. he gave her his suit jacket. She placed her head on his shoulder drifting off to sleep.

She giggles a bit. Your me hero. They finish their snack and go get the suits on. Damain goes on his bike and Raven flies they check out the city and fly and drive around.

Nah it's quiet. Raven said. They flew around for another hour or so. It was sundown and they stop and look at the view.

The sundown never changes but I love looking at it. Raven said. It finally gets dark and they just listen to the city.

Raven takes a deep breath. The city went silent. Damian titans pad got an alert from dick.

Dami... Damain. Dick said over the radio he sounded like he was in trouble Raven looks at him .Malchior is. The device stopped.

Raven turns to where the tower would be and see a black cloud covering it. Damian. Raven said. Damian looks over.
