I knew. I knew I shouldn't have gotten too attached. I felt it in my gut. But no, I had to fall for him.
Josh was another of the jerks that existed at Ember Ce High. What was I thinking?
It's funny though, because he is handsome and charming. You wouldn't think he would do such a thing.
The past few days were wonderful. We spent more time together and it felt good. The thing that hurt was when I saw him with that girl. She's pretty. There's no way he couldn't have fallen for her. I thought it was me he was into. But then again, I'm not surprised. I kind of had it coming.
I decided to get myself a glass of juice before I went to bed.
"Amelia, you can't be drinking juice at this time of the night
It's unhealthy. "
"Just one glass mother. "
I then rinsed my glass and placed it in the sink. I said good night to my parents and went straight back to my room. By this time I would've been fast asleep. But not today. I spent at least two hours listening to music, drowning my sorrows. But to my surprise, I actually did fall asleep.
* * *
"Amelia, get up. You're going to be late. "
She drew my curtains and the sun beamed in. The light was hurting my eyes.
I had a quick shower and got ready for school. I wasn't feeling hungry so I just grabbed an apple. Again, my mother scolded me. I lied to her and told her that I was on a diet. I don't think she bought it. Oh well.
I waited at the bus stop like every other day. Usually it would've arrived by now. It's either it's late or I'm too early. I received a text message from Annabelle. She said she was running late and her mother was bringing her. Great. What a way to start the day.
The bus came ten minutes later. It was a bit more full than normal today and I almost didn't get a seat. Saved by James, he had an open seat.
"Amelia! Hi!"
James always had energy.
"James, how are you? "
"I'm okay. How are you? " he asked, concerned.
"I'm fine James. "
I liked James for one thing. He never pestered. He wasn't nosy.
"Where's Kevin? "
"His mother is dropping him. "
"Oh yeah, Annabelle too."
"Well," James smiled. "I guess it's just me and you. "
We spoke no more the whole ride and I was glad for it. I didn't feel like talking.
