A/N- Hi you guys, so in case you were wondering, which you probably weren't, this is my first story that isn't a fan-fic, so if it's not good I'm sorry. Also, I'm that one author that doesn't update till they get more reads, (jk) another warning as well, I have cliffhangers, not this early in the story, but still. One more thing, if you're even reading this, her little brother's name is from a book series, called The Darkest Minds, and her little sister's is from She-ra. I recommend reading and watching both! Thanks, ya'll,

Maddy

Spokane, Washington. My dad said it was a beautiful city, unique in the best of ways. But all I see is a big yet ugly town with an overcast sky. If anything it seems like a normal suburban, urban city. Well I mean that's what it looks like from my car window anyway. Honestly, Spokane seems like all the other let's see, ten places we've lived? Yeah, life is great.

"Are we there yet?" my little brother Jude asked for the fifteenth time this hour.

"About a half-hour left, bud," my dad called from the wheel.

"Uuuuuugh," he whined. And at that point, he decided it would be a great idea to start arguing with my little sister, Mara.

"I told you, I get the biggest room in our new house!" Mara yells at him. She's only twelve, and she thinks she's the smartest person in the room at any given time or place.

"We're sharing, idiot," I butt in.

"Shut up," she and Jude say simultaneously.

I roll my eyes and copy my older brother, Milo, who has his headphones on, and is staring at his phone. I turn on my phone to see my wallpaper, which is me with my two best friends, Elsie and Rose. I miss them, our sleepovers, pranks, and going down to our favorite ice cream shop. I go to my music, and start listening to some of my favorite songs by the Script.

When I listen to music, it's just the lyrics, and my thoughts swirling around in my head, like one big whirlpool. But instead of focusing on my thoughts, I concentrate on the song and the scenery outside.

I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing, just prayin' to a god that I don't believe in,

Another house, and another.

'Cause I got time while she got freedom, 'cause when a heart breaks, no, it don't break even

More road, but this time with little shops. That means we're getting closer to town.

Her best days will be some of my worst-  at this, I skip to the next song. My heart chokes, as his last words to me run through my head. "Our love was never real, ever,". I push those thoughts away. I can be strong, I can.

The car slows down as we pull into a driveway of a newer-looking house. It's a pale grey with white trim, and mulch by the drains. I'm almost positive my mom will want to plant flowers there.

"Is this it?" Milo says, looking up from his phone. Technically, he's old enough to move out of the house, but he's still looking for a good college and trying to get on his feet as a new adult. And I guess my parents are supposed to be helping him with that.

"I think so," my mom says, looking at the house in awe. I think this is the biggest one we've lived in so far. My dad said it's over four thousand square feet and has a main level, an upstairs, a basement, and a very small attic, it's also supposedly a four bedroom, four bathroom set up.

We all get out of the car, me, Milo, my mom, and my dad with stuff, whereas Jude and Mara ran straight into the house not even offering to help. How typical.
