Chapter 1: Starting From the Bottom, Part 1

(A/N: Apparently, the cast thing isn't a thing anymore on computer or mobile, so in case you haven't read my OC book, Phoebe is voiced by Tara Strong when speaking and Rebecca Shoichet when singing, while Derek is voiced by Chris Hackney. As for intro placements, in case you were curious, Derek would be tied up with Noah and Ezekiel while Phoebe would be reading by the outhouse as Harold and Izzy crash into and knock Lindsay out of it. Also, I will be using the original Canadian release for all of the seasons, but I will tell which new lines I feel might be censored.  Onto the actual story!)

(P.O.V.: Nobody)
Starting with a view from a dock in the shape of a capital T, we get our first glimpse of our host, "Yo!  We're coming at you live from Camp Wawanakwa, somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario!  I'm your host, Chris McLean!  Dropping season 1 of the hottest new reality show on television... right now!" Chris continues his explanation as he walks down the dock, "Here's the deal, 24 campers have signed up to spend 8 weeks right here at this crummy old summer camp.  They'll compete in challenges against each other, then have to face the judgement of their fellow campers.  Every 3 days, one team will either win a reward, or watch one of their team members walk down the Dock of Shame, take a ride on the loser boat," he chuckled, "and leave Total Drama Island for good." He acted out a golf swing.  Cut to a campfire area with 12 seats in front of a firepit.  Chris pops into frame to continue his explanation, "Their fate will be decided here, at the dramatic campfire ceremonies where each week, all but 1 camper will receive a marshmallow." He briefly paused his explanation to eat a marshmallow that was already on a stick and tossed the stick aside to resume, "In the end, only one will be left standing and will be rewarded with cheesy tabloid fame and a small fortune, which let's face it, they'll probably blow in a week.  To survive, they'll have to battle," as he explained, the things he described appear on screen, "black flies, grizzly bears, disgusting camp food..."
For some reason, a worm shown on the plate speaks up, "Hey now."
Back to Chris, "...and each other.  Every moment will be caught on 1 of the hundreds of cameras situated all over the camp." Cameras are shown popping out of a bird's nest and taped to a totem pole.  Cut back to Chris once more, "Who will crumble under the pressure?  Find out here, right now," as he gave the title, the camera zooms out, "on Total... Drama... Island!"
Following the intro, Chris is ready to greet the competitors, "Welcome back to Total Drama Island.  Alright, it's time to meet our first 12 campers.  We told them they'd all be staying at this 5-star resort, so if they seem a little TO'd, that's probably why."
As if on cue, a fancy looking yacht brings a short girl with a two-toned shirt bearing 4 pins, pink pants, a side-ponytail held up by a pink scrunchie, and she had braces and large glasses.  As soon as she was dropped off, she put down her orange flowery luggage to run up to Chris in excitement and hug him as he introduced her. "Beth, what's up?"
"It's so incredulous to meet you!" Beth was indeed ecstatic and let go of Chris to point something out, "Wow, you're much shorter in real life." She waved to the camera as Chris let out an awkward "Uh... thanks."

(P.O.V.: Phoebe)
All throughout the boat ride I had so many thoughts buzzing in my head.  "Will the other 23 contestants like you?  Should you have chosen a different outfit or hairstyle?  What if they find the secret out prematurely?"  It was hard to quell them until the boat stopped at what I believe to be my destination.  I grabbed the luggage I organized the night before I left and breathed a sigh of relief as I stepped off.  As I looked down at where I was stepping, I saw the walkway was more... rickety than I expected.  That's when I looked up and saw Chris and another girl who had similar features to me, in a way.
"Contestant numero dos, Phoebe!"
I saw the locale and felt I needed to address something, "Um, p-pardon me, Mr. McLean, sir..."
"You can call me Chris.  No big deal."
"I think the boat got lost.  I-I was informed we would be at a fancy hotel, and this... doesn't fit that description to a T."
"How else would we get 24 teens onto a summer camp in the middle of nowhere?"
"Oh.  S-sorry for questioning you, then." I made my way over to the opposite end of the dock, where the other girl was, and put my bag near the one that most likely belonged to said other girl.  Once I was in her vicinity, she grabbed my hand and shook it rather fast, "Hi, Phoebe!  I'm Beth, I hope we can be friends!"
I readjusted my glasses when she let go, "N-nice to meet you, Beth."
The next boat carried a larger dark-skinned man with a pretty nice beard, wearing a white cap, a green shirt with an orange "D" on it with white at the ends, as well as greenish shorts and sandals.
Chris introduced him as "DJ!"
This DJ placed his two duffel bags down to high-five Chris, "Yo, Chris McLean!  How's it going?" He looked around and had a similar reaction to mine, "Hey, you sure you got the right place here?  Where's the hot tub at?"
"Yo, dawg, this is it.  Camp Wawanakwa!"
DJ picked his bags and walked toward Beth and myself, "Humph.  Looked a lot different on the application form."
As he said that, an intimidating girl with black and teal hair, wearing a blue green and black shirt, a skirt that shared colors with her hair, and black boots walked off with her luggage looking quite disgruntled.
"Hey, Gwen," Chris called out to her.
She walked over with an unpleased expression, "You mean we're staying here?"
"No, you're staying here," Chris responded, "My crib is an Airstream with AC. That-a-way." He pointed to his right.
"I did not sign up for this."
Chris held up what seemed to be Gwen's application papers, which I inferred from his smug "Actually, you did."
In retaliation, Gwen grabbed the papers, tore them in half, and dropped them in the water. As I watched this, I nearly felt my hopes at making it off here in one piece get ripped and dunked as well. Chris was more nonchalant about it, though, "The great thing about lawyers is..." He pulled an identical set of papers, "they make lots of copies."
Gwen still had protests and picked her bags back up, "I am not staying here."
"Cool. I hope you can swim though, because your ride just left." We saw the boat leave, and Gwen glared at him and called him "Jerk!"
I tried to keep myself as calm as I can around her, though I had a hard time because of her earlier display. We heard EDM playing from the boat, most likely being played by the next camper, a blond guy with a cowboy hat on, wearing a gold chain necklace, an open pink jacket, jean-shorts, and sandals. As the boat stopped, he hand-sprung off the rail and onto the dock, his sticker-laced suitcase being tossed to him before the boat left again.
"Chris McLean! 'Sup, man! It's an honor to meet you, man!" He was much less intimidating than Gwen, fortunately, fist-bumping Chris.
"The Geoff-ster. Welcome to the island, man," Chris shot back.
"Thanks, man."
Gwen didn't seem to be having it, "They say 'man' one more time, I'm gonna puke." I backed up a little more as she said this.
Geoff walked over and gave Chris a high-five before the latter introduced the next camper, "Everybody, this is Lindsay."
Lindsay was a tall blonde wearing a blue bandana, a red-and-brown top that... exposed some cleavage, an orange skirt, and brown cowgirl boots with stars on them. She looked like my least favorite usual high school movie clique, the girls that seem sweet at first glance, but give them an inch, and they will make your life a living hell, though Chris wasn't dissuaded if his "Not too shabby" was anything to go by.
"Hiiiiiii!" Lindsay greeted, pulling a pink suitcase behind her, "Okay, you look so familiar."
"I'm Chris McLean," Chris reminded her, though she still didn't seem to get it, "The host. Of the show."
Lindsay understood, "Oh, that's where I know you from!"
Chris was uncomfortable, "Uh... yeah."
She doesn't seem to have any of the mercilessness that the aforementioned clique usually carries with them, at least so far. That was made up for when an Asian girl with black hair and eyes in a red crop top, green shorts and wedges stepped off. She removed the sunglasses she was wearing and gave an intimidating glare.
Chris simply introduced her as "Heather." No attempts at conversation, no trying to butter her up, just the name. That alone proved that she would probably be my downfall (and not because of the "Heathers" movie from 1989). Though much like Chris with Gwen, Beth wasn't fazed, "Hi! Looks like we're your new friends for the next 8 weeks!" The "s" sounds she made caused her braces to let out some saliva, and caused Heather to cringe in disgust. I thought Heather would be the most scary person I'd have to face, but I was immediately proven wrong when a man with a green mohawk, quite a few piercings, a spiked collar, a black shirt with cream sleeves bearing a skull, a spiked bracelet on his right wrist, jeans, sneakers, and a goatee standing on an amplifier playing heavy metal ride over on the boat. As he arrived, he tossed his bag onto the dock and hopped off the boat with a serious glare.
"Duncan, dude!" Chris kept an unnaturally level head.
Duncan clenched his fist, "I don't like surprises."
"Yeah, your parole officer warned me about that, man. He also told me to give him a holler anytime and have you returned to juvie."
Wait, JUVIE?! Okay, if Heather wasn't going to take me out, that "honor" would most likely go to Duncan. This seemed to calm Duncan down, as he just inhaled, "Okay, then," and walked over to the rest of us, passing by Heather, "Meet you by the campfire, gorgeous," to which Heather replied, "Drop dead, you skeeze!" and marched away, "I'm calling my parents. You can not make me stay here!" Beth waved at her as I shrunk down (not literally) a bit to avoid her noticing me as a target. Chris pulled out the papers again, and we heard a honk. Turns out the next camper wasn't on the boat, he was waterskiing behind it! He had a red tracksuit and matching red headband, and he waved out to us.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Tyler!" As his name was called, Tyler's skis slipped and rolled across the water without sinking (Is he also... stay focused, Phoebe!), hit the dock and got sent flying to all the luggage. We all felt that impact and noticed that one of the bags was knocked into the air and it fell into the sea, the resulting splash drenching Heather completely, "Ugh! My shoes!"
Chris called out to Tyler, "Wicked wipeout, man!" Tyler rose up his hand and gave a thumbs up, as DJ and Geoff gave one another thumbs up as well. Heather walked back over to us as Chris laughed, then noticed a long sigh coming from a man with red hair, a goatee that was smaller than Duncan's, glasses similar to Beth's, wearing a blue shirt with a burger (I think) on it, long green pants, sneakers, and he was holding a keyboard.
"Welcome to camp, Harold." Harold looked around, completely silent. Beth took note of this, "What's he looking at?" Until he finally asked something, "So you mean this show is at a crappy summer camp, and not on some big stage or something?"
Chris responded, "You got it."
Harold was pleased by this, "Yes! That is so much more favorable to my skills." Chris shuddered at this while the next camper arrived, "Contestant number ten is Trent." Trent had black hair and green eyes, wearing a light green shirt with camo sleeves and a handprint on it, sneakers, and jeans. He had a backpack on and was carrying a guitar case (most likely with an actual guitar).
"Hey, good to meet you, man!" That kindness from Trent was a breath of fresh air after the fear caused in me by Gwen, Heather and Duncan. "Saw you on that figure skating show, nice work!" I knew Chris was famous, but I didn't know he was THAT famous.
"Hey, thanks man! I knew I rocked that show!" Chris replied with a fist bump.
Beth raised her hand, "I saw that! One of the guys dropped his partner on her head, so they got immunity that week."
"Lucky," Harold replied, "I hope I get dropped on my head."
"Me too!" Lindsay concurred. I don't know about you, but that's not the way I want to advance, mainly because I doubt any potential concussions will be worth it.
"So, this is it?" Trent asked, as he looked at us, with Heather still trying to get the water out of her hair. He didn't mind it as much as everyone else, "All righty, then." He walked over to us, and Gwen turned away scowling, though I could've sworn I saw her look back at Trent with a little smile. Maybe she won't be so scary after all. Next up was a girl with blonde hair in a ponytail, green eyes, wearing a blue hoodie, sandals and jean shorts. She was carrying a surfboard. Her greeting was as casual as Trent's, "Hey, what's up?"
Chris told us about her, "Alright, our surfer chick, Bridgette, is here!"
Duncan snorted, "Nice board. This ain't Malibu, honey." I kept silent at that slightly sexist remark, since I didn't want to lose a limb on day 1.
"I thought we were going to be on a beach," Bridgette calmly replied.
"We are!" Chris gestured to the... less than clean beach beside us.
Bridgette sighed at the sight, "Great."
"All right! That makes-" As Chris was tallying us, he got hit in the head by Bridgette's board when she bent over to grab her bag and walked over to us. "Owwww, darn it! That hurt!"
"Hey, guys," Bridgette greeted us, as Geoff moved to her other side to introduce himself, "Heey!  I'm Geoff."
Bridgette turned around to return the greeting, nearly hitting all of us with her board like she did Chris, "What's up?"
"Dang!  Watch the board, man," Harold was less than pleased with nearly getting smacked with a surfboard.
Beth introduced herself to Bridgette like she did to me, "Hi!  I'm Beth!"
Bridgette turned around and nearly hit us again, "Hey!"
Heather was getting impatient, "Okay, we've all met Surfer Girl.  Can we get on with the show, please?"
Duncan snarked at her, "Someone missed their double cappuccino macchiato this morning," to which Heather responded, "Get bent."
Chris rubbed his head from the bump Bridgette gave him when he introduced the next camper, an Indian boy with brown hair and eyes, wearing a blue-and-red shirt, a white undershirt, sneakers and green jeans, "Our... next camper is Noah!"
Noah simply walked over with his bag in hand, "You got my memo about my life-threatening allergies?"
"Sure someone did!" Chris practically did a half-shrug, as Noah replied, "Good.  Is this where we're staying?"
Duncan took the opportunity to joke again, cracking his knuckles, "No, it's your mother's house.  And we're throwing a party."
Noah wasn't phased, "Cute.  Nice piercings, original.  Do them yourself?"
"Yeah, you want one?" Duncan grabbed Noah's lip and held out a needle, though Noah kept calm, albeit with a little slur from his bottom lip being held against its will, "Uh, no thanks.  Can I have my lip back please?"  Duncan complied, earning a sarcastic "Thanks" from Noah.
Next up was a boy with fair skin and black hair, a little bit covering his left eye, and he was wearing a Resident Evil t-shirt, sneakers and jean shorts.  Despite his fashion sense, he seemed much less scary than Duncan or Gwen.
"And here's Derek!" Chris gave us his name, to which Derek simply replied, "Hey, how's it going?" with a smile and handshake as he walked over to us.
"Never knew Hot Topic was this popular," Noah remarked to me. Duncan looked like he was about to punch Noah for that, before Derek held his arm, shaking his head no.
The next boat had, who else, the next camper.  She had dark skin and was, um, wider than some of the campers that were already there, her hair was black and tied into a ponytail by a cream hairband, she had hoop earrings, a cream shirt with four apples on it, jeans and sandals.  Chris didn't even have to introduce her, she did it herself, "What's up, y'all?  Leshawna's in the house!"
Harold gasped, seemingly in awe of Leshawna as she walked onto the dock and gave Chris a high five, "Yo, baby!  Hey, how you doin'?  How's it goin'?  Feel free to quit now and save yourselves the trouble, 'cause I came to win!"
She made her way to DJ and gave him a high-five, "Oh, what's up, my brother?  Gimme some sugar, baby!"
Harold came over to her, "I've never seen a girl like you in real life before," to which Leshawna replied, "Excuse me?"
Harold's clarification, well, it was less than pleasing on surface level, "You're real big.  And loud."
That set Leshawna off, "What did you say to me?!  Oh no, you didn't!  You have not seen anything yet!  I'll show you big, baby!" She tried to attack Harold, who retaliated with some attempts at martial arts, though Bridgette, DJ and Derek held her back before any real fights broke out, "Oh yeah, you want some of this?  Well, come on then!"
"Alright, campers, settle down!" Chris was able to defuse the situation, and when Leshawna was let go, Harold smiled in a somewhat apologetic way.
Next up was a pair of girls, one dark skinned and slim, the other with light skin and a figure similar to that of Leshawna, with identical hairstyles (two black pigtails held up by pink bobbles), outfits (black earrings, black crop top with white stripes, pink polka-dotted shorts and pink wedges) and luggage (pink with polka dots like their shorts, though the bag on the right of the dark skinned girl had a dark pink base and light pink spots, while the bag on the left of the light skinned girl had the colors swapped).  Chris introduced them, "Ladies!  Sadie, Katie, welcome to your new home for 8 weeks!"
They were more excited than the others were.
"Oh my gosh.  Sadie look, it's a summer camp!" The dark skinned girl, who had revealed herself to be the "Katie", told her friend.
"Okay, I've always wanted to go to summer camp!  Eeee!" Sadie shared the enthusiasm as the duo clapped, grabbed their bags and ran over.  They looked to be the most approachable females on the island so far (Derek, DJ and Trent were the most approachable males), so I walked over to them and waved awkwardly.  The two of them returned the wave, but theirs were more outgoing.  Chris scratched his head in confusion as the next camper came around.  He had a blue toque on, his hair was brown, he had a small goatee of the same color, he was wearing a green sweatshirt, sneakers and blue jeans.
Chris did the introduction as he came on the dock, "Ezekiel!  What's up, man?"
Interestingly, this prompted Ezekiel to actually POINT upward and respond, "I think I see a bird."  We were confused, though Trent chuckled at the misunderstanding.
"Okay," Chris tried to console Ezekiel, "Look dude, I know you don't get out much, been homeschooled your whole life, raised by freaky prairie people.  Just don't say much and try not to get kicked off too early, okay?"  Why did that feel like it would end up jinxing him?
Nevertheless, Ezekiel walked over to the rest of us with an understanding "Yes, sir."
"That's just... Wow," Gwen was still a little perplexed by his behavior.
The next camper was a small boy with brown hair, a cream shirt with a red stripe and a green stripe (the red on top of the green) and he was also wearing jeans and sneakers (Man, that's really common).
Chris cheerily introduced him as "Cody.  The Codester.  The Codemeister!"  They shot finger guns at one another and Cody gave Chris a high five (That's also really common) and walked over, "Dude, psyched to be here, man," he made his way to Bridgette, Lindsay, Katie, Sadie, myself and Leshawna, "I see the ladies have already arrived.  All right."  I backed up toward Katie and Sadie, a little uncomfortable.  Cody tried to speak to Leshawna, but she shushed him, "Save it, short stuff."
After Cody was a girl with a black ponytail tied back by a blue hairband, a single eyebrow, a beauty mark by her mouth, she was wearing a blue gym uniform and sneakers, and her expression was just as sour as Duncan's was when he arrived, but once again, Chris was unfazed, "Eva.  Nice.  Glad you could make it."
Cody tried to give her a high five, but she simply dropped her luggage on his foot, and it made a CLANG?!  I hugged Katie and Sadie in fright as I heard it (I don't really like certain noises, mainly due to my autism causing sensory issues when I hear them).
"Ow!" Cody yelped in pain as the bag met his foot, "What's in there, dumbbells?"
Eva kept her answer short and simple, "Yes."
Geez, why are so many people here so scary?!
"She's all yours, man," Duncan remarked to DJ, who gave a worried expression.
Chris smirked at this, but was blown back a bit (literally) from the next camper letting out an excited "WOO-HOO!"  He was blond, large (the largest so far), he wore a white shirt with a blue maple leaf on it and green shorts and sneakers, and he was also the most enthralled so far. "Chris!  What's happenin'?!" He let out a laugh, "This is awesome!  Woo-hoo!"
At least he's not one of the scary ones.  Chris seemed to agree (or at least mimicked his joy) as he shot some finger guns at him, "Owen!  Welcome!"
Owen pulled Chris into a tight bear hug, putting the latter into obvious pain (well, Owen's not intentionally scary), "Awesome to be here, man!  Yeah!  Man, this is just so..." Owen was struggling to find a good word, before Gwen finished the thought with a smirk on her face, "Awesome?" Owen went along with it, "Yes!  Awesome!  Whoooo!  Are you gonna be on my team?"
"Oh, I sure hope so," Gwen feigned enthusiasm, to which Owen let out a operatic "Whooooo!"
"You about finished?"  The bear hug must've been getting to Chris, so Owen let him go.
"Sorry, dude.  I'm just so psyched!"
"Cool," Chris pointed at the boat coming with the next camper, "And here comes Courtney."
This Courtney had dark skin, an array of freckles between her eyes, brown hair in a bob, she was wearing a purplish-gray top, sandals and green pants.  She waved to us, and Chris led her onto the dock, "Thank you."
Courtney walked over to us, "Hi.  You must be the other contestants.  It's really nice to meet you all."  Seems like the scary contestants have all been introduced, fortunately.
Owen immediately shook her hand like how Beth shook mine when it was just me and her, "How's it goin'?  I'm Owen!"
"Nice to meet you, O... wow." Courtney was distracted by the next camper.  And for good reason.  He was a Hawaiian man with quite appealing features, such as blue eyes like mine, flowing black hair, a necklace with a knot in the middle (I have no idea who designs jewelry like that), a dark green shirt, jeans and sandals.  Most everyone, myself included, was in awe, ESPECIALLY Owen, though Katie, Sadie and surprisingly Eva weren't far behind, to the point where the man flashing a smile made Sadie pass out.
"This is Justin," Chris gave the introduction, "Welcome to Total Drama Island." The two exchanged a fist bump as Justin gave a grateful "Thanks, Chris.  This is great."
"Just so you know, we picked you based entirely on your looks."
"I can deal with that."
As Justin walked over, Owen ran over to him and gave him a compliment, "I like your pants!"
"Thanks, man."
"'Cause they look like they're all... worn out," Owen laughed nervously, as if he had a crush on Justin (though I doubt people would blame him). "Did you buy them like that?"
"Uh, no.  Just had them for a while."
"Oh.  Cool," Owen smacked his forehead with a self-reprimanding "Stupid!"
Last but not least was a redheaded girl with green eyes, a green crop top (also exposing a little cleavage), a light green wrap skirt, a green bracelet on her left hand, and green slip-ons.
"Hey, everyone.  Izzy!" Chris gave his final introduction of the day.
Izzy was very eager, "Hi, Chris!  Hi!  Hi!" So eager that when she walked to get off the boat, she tripped, "Whoa!" and hit her head on the dock, falling into the water.  Yikes!
"Ooh!  That was bad," Tyler laughed it off, though Courtney and I weren't as casual, running off to the end of the dock.
"Guys, she could be seriously hurt," we pulled Izzy out, Courtney by the right arm, me by the left.  When she was back on dry land, she shook herself dry like a dog.
"Izzy, are you okay?" I asked, hoping the answer would be "yes".
"Okay?" Oh no. "That felt... so... GOOD!" Wait, what? "Except for hitting my chin.  This is summer camp?  That is so cool!  Do you have paper maché here?  Are we having lunch soon?" Okay, either the collision with the dock shuffled around some brain cells or she's just extremely hyper.
Owen was eager to agree on that last question, "That is a good call!"
With all 24 campers on the island, Chris moved on to getting us accustomed to our new staying grounds, "First things first! We need a group photo for the promos." Or not. "Everyone on the end of the dock." We followed Chris' instructions, and he hopped on the boat that brought us here. I situated myself between Courtney and Katie. (A/N: In case you're curious, I imagine Derek would be positioned between Owen and Harold)
"Okay! One, two, three." When the camera clicked, nothing happened. "Oops. Okay, forgot the lens cap!" He removed it, "Okay, hold that pose! One! Tw-- oh. No, wait. Card's full. Hang on."
He went about exchanging the card, making us a little impatient, Leshawna most vocally, "Come on man, my face is startin' to freeze!"
"Got it!" Chris was finally ready to take the picture, "Okay, everyone say 'Wawanakwa'!"
"Wawanakwa!" As we said the island's name, the dock fell apart (likely due to our combined weight), and the picture ended up being of some of us trying not to drown.
"Okay guys. Dry off and meet at the campfire pit in ten!"
