Having friends who are loud and boisterous are unbecoming of what he is - opposites of what the other two are if anything. So why do they click? Could it be that the compliment each other? Fill up each other's flaws or maybe it's convenient since they grew up together?
A U-haul approached and offloads furniture. There we see Lee and his Nanny, moving into their new home. He has always been timid and not good with crowds. Maybe because he's an only child and his parents travel a lot and often are not home.
Lee is the smallest in the group. He used to be scrawny, and people might even think of him as someone that doesn't even eat - He was that small. Compared to other kids, he was small and often was bullied due to his size.
Back then there was a playground around their neighborhood, it's where all the kids in the area go to as soon as they come back from school.
"Bully #1: Lee, why are you so tiny? Do they feed you at home?
Bully #2: His parents hate him, they starve him!
L: No they don't! They love me.
Bully#1: They love you? They're not even here. They left you!
L: No! Take it back!
Bully#2: They hate you, they hate you! Hahaha
T: Cut it out. Leave him alone.
O: Hey, douchebags. Just because you two are fat, doesn't mean your parents love you!"

With his headphones on, while fiddling with a pen, listening to slow tunes, someone lifts the right side of his headphones and whispers, "Love, let's go out!" - Lee becomes flushed!
