________________________________What's a righteous death?
Is it sacrificing yourself for the expense of others mistakes?
Or is it your troubled soul finally leaving this wretched reality to find the peace you were yearning for in this chaotic world?
Aiko couldn't find the answer to any of these questions.
She used to believe there was a promised land, where your free from all heavy burdens and even the cruel monsters that plagued every humans mind.
Oh god, she prayed it was true now.
As soon as Yuuji's lifeless body fell to the floor with a thump, Megumi turned his face up towards the stormy thundering sky as he let out small whimpers, his bitter tears cascaded down his face merging with the rain whilst he clenched his fist's in anger.
Meanwhile every nerve in Aiko's body was numb from shock. Her flood gates burst open as tears streamed down her face whilst her body crumpled to the cold hard ground as she silently sobbed.
Clutching onto Yuuji's recently departed body; she cried; she cried so hard for the boy who only brought smiles to those around him.
Her voice cracked whilst she whispered,
'' Yuuji, please, please come back..''Aiko cradled Yuuji in her arms whilst the merciless rain beat down upon the two, washing away any trace of blood from the scene.
Her whole body shook in denial.
She should've know this outcome was to be expected but part of her hoped, it hoped so foolishly that he would endure this and come back to them both.
Still holding Yuuji's lifeless body, she turned her head towards Megumi, her bloodshot eyes that clutched onto the slither of hope that he was still somewhat alive met Megumi's glistening cerulean ones as she stuttered out hurriedly ''He'll be okay wont he?... He's just passed out or something, if we bring him to Shoko she'll know wha-''
''Aiko....he's....gone'' Megumi said as he sniffled between words, the tip of his nose was slightly irritated from unconsciously wiping his nose repeatedly.
"No...I was meant to protect everyone."
"I...I said no one was going to get hurt again this time..." Aiko rambled to herself , her eyes fixating upon the gaping wound on Yuuji's bodyMegumi crouched down to Aiko's level. He put an awkward arm around her shoulder to slightly comfort the the distressed teen and also himself.
A small frown appeared upon Megumi's lips, as he carefully said, "Aiko, there was nothing we could do. He finally succeeded in having the righteous death he wanted."
"This is unfair."
"I know but we ha-"
"THIS IS UNFAIR MEGUMI, WHY?
WHY MUST THE HIGHER UPS TREAT US LIKE LITTLE TOY SOLDIERS?!
THEY DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT US!
CONSTANTLY SENDING US INTO MISSIONS WERE CLEARLY NOT CAPABLE TO HANDLE!
AND THIS IS THE END RESULT!" Aiko yelled towards Megumi, her breathing getting more shallower by the minute as she took deep shaky breaths. There was something in that shout, a pain behind it.
Hayate watched. He watched Aiko's eyes.
Then he knew.
The anger was nothing but a shield for the pain that was pulling apart any sense of rationality inside his best friend.Hand still upon Aiko's shoulder, a clear raindrop ran down his now ghostly complexion. His usually fluffy onyx hair stuck too his forehead from the rain, whilst his jaw clenched causing a faint muscle in his jaw to tense as he answered he defeatedly said
"I...know"For the remaining thirty minutes waiting on Ijichi and another auxiliary manager to arrive, the two teens situated upon the rooftop knelt besides each other in silence.
With their eyes cast towards their recently departed friend they both grieved in the bitingly cold rainstorm cursing the higher ups and Sukuna to a place worse than hell.
