CHAPTER ONE"We can stop here if it's too much right now. We covered a lot Aryeh" said the pushy therapist.
Aryeh knew from the look on her face she wanted her to continue. "Thank you, I have more clarification on the issues than I did yesterday. I'll call to schedule my next session. I have a lot going on this week." said Aryeh as she stuffs her phone into her pocket. She was out of the office before Dr. Klein could even look up and see the look on Aryeh's face.Aryeh had been seeing this therapist for only 3 weeks, the reason she sought out for help is her because of a very complicated relationship or affair. Aryeh hates that, that's what it actually was an affair. So, when people asks her, she replies "It's complicated". She has been off and on with the same person for 18 months. Who wouldn't need to see a professional to understand this? It's a struggle every day to be the other woman. Aryeh felt it was better to have him sometimes than not at all.
Her phone rang as she waits outside Dr. Klein's office." Hello" Aryeh said slightly annoyed. "Hey baby, how are you?" Brennan said as sweet as ever. That was his thing when she gave him the silent treatment, just to suck her back in. Brennan was really good at manipulating to get what he wanted. He didn't like hearing the word no."I'm leaving the .... store." Aryeh said weary. She couldn't let him know where she really was because then that would just lead to more questions and unwanted advice. "Everything okay" Aryeh said taking the focus off of where she was. "Everything is fine, I would like to see you today!" said Brennan so sure that Aryeh would say yes. "Sounds fun but I can't" Aryeh said in a semi stern voice. It was very hard for her to say no to him. Aryeh thinking to herself, He thinks he can just call and I'm supposed to drop everything. But that's what she did for him from the first day they met. Brennan calls when he wants and answers the phone when it's convenient for him. Aryeh gives him that confidence boost that's lacking in his marriage.
"Aryeh, come on I haven't seen you in a while. I know you miss me" Brennan said in his arrogant don't dare tell me no tone. "B, you can't just expect me to cancel my plans because Kristi isn't home or doing something else." Aryeh said getting louder with every word. "Relax, that's not why I want to see you" said Brennan trying to not raise his voice. Aryeh brought out the worse and best in him. He genuinely missed her and wanted to go to sleep and wake up to her. It's been a month since they have been able to spend time together. "I want to believe you but there's too many reasons why we shouldn't" said Aryeh. She just started walking she couldn't wait for the bus anymore. When she walked it helped her focus and not to spiral.
"Aryeh, hello? Are you going to meet me today or not?" said Brennan. His stern voice snapping her out of her own thoughts. "Look I have errands to run and you call me after a month. I can't do this today. Maybe we can talk tomorrow" Aryeh quickly said not bothering to wait for a response. She felt good hanging up on him, she felt in control of the situation no matter how small of a step it was.
Aryeh still walking so lost in thought she didn't have a clue to where she was going. But for her luck, she ran into a Starbucks and she needed at least two cups a day. Usually, she would order though her mobile app. It was a lot more convenient than waiting in line behind people who had the most ridiculous request. Aryeh was only behind two people so it wasn't that bad. "Can I have a venti Iced upside down caramel macchiato please?" Aryeh said pulling up her app to pay.She usually is aloof in places like this, she doesn't focus on much other than her reason of being there. Which is to get coffee, she walked to the end of the bar and waited for her drink to be finished. This wasn't her usual place to get her coffee but, she was glad she walked into this one today. Aryeh was not the type to stare, but she definitely did today. As soon as her coffee was placed on the bar and her name was called out, she grabbed it said "Thank you" and walked out as fast as she walked in.
For Aryeh it was weird to notice someone who wasn't looking her way first. She stood outside glancing at him through the window, while taking her first sip of coffee, which was a lot better than her normal coffee shop. Aryeh turned away from the window, shaking off any urge she had to go back in. She had so much going on already and acting on impulses is why she's in the mess that made her seek out a therapist.
