Inside, Clair found her brother in the kitchen. Still in his dirty work boots, he sat hunched at the table eating noodles.
His chestnut hair was tied back in a short pony tail.
He looked up when Clair walked into the room, eyes crinkled at the sides as he smiled.
"Hey Clair. Want some"? He pushed se of his noodles into a bowl and handed it to Clair.
"Thanks Nick"
"How was your first day"?
"Good". I mumbled with my mouth full.
"You didn't stay up for me did you"?
"Had to make sure my little sis got back alright from her first day", Nick said as he ruffled my hair with his hand.
"But seriously the boss kept us over time to finish off the house so I'm gona go to bed". Nick yawned and kissed my cheek, stubble scratching, before he left to bed.
I put my bowl in the sink and sat on the couch. I turned on the tv but all I got was static. I flicked through the channels. When i found nothing better I stopped on the news left it playing in the background as I worked on my homework.
I looked up as the news lady announced a body found near Grenis woods.
I reminded myself to ask if Lucas if he drove past anything going home.
