The Beginning

This story, like many others, starts with a normal happy family. This is the Thorn family. Azalea Thorn is the middle child and is 13 years old at this time. She has long, dark chocolate brown hair. Her emerald eyes made all her siblings jealous, and she is the person we will be focusing on for this story.

While Azalea waited in the parlor, her parents were talking to a man in the other room. She was told she was meeting someone her parents knew, but she was incredibly nervous. She never did well with new people; they scared her. Eventually her parents came into the room, followed by a man with dirt brown hair and blue eyes. The first thing she noticed about him was his height. He was 5'7 and to Azalea, she thought that made him a giant.

The man smiled and introduced himself as Sota. He didn't say his last name, which she found odd. She played games with her siblings while Sota and her parents talked by the fire. She had an odd feeling about him and wanted to keep a distance between the two of them.

Fairly late that night, Azalea tucked herself into bed and fell asleep; though it wasn't for long. She woke up to the sound of screams and something heavy falling to the ground. She rushed out of bed and hurried to her parent's room. There, she saw her father hanging over a chair, and her mother draped over the bed. Both of them were dead. She raced to her older brother's room to find that he was killed in his sleep. She went to each of her siblings rooms to find them all dead.

Terrified, Azalea ran out of the house and towards the police station. She burst though the doors and cried "My family has been murdered!"

All eyes turned to Azalea. The police went with her back to the Thorn residence and investigated the scene. What seemed like hours later, Sota appeared in the doorway of her house and said "I was asked to take care of you if something like this happened. I'll keep you safe." He offered Azalea his hand, but she walked past him and got into his carriage and sat down. Sota frowned but got into the carriage and sat down next to them.

"What did you do to them?" She asked after several minutes of silence.

"I haven't the foggiest idea as to what you mean Azalea." He said, blood draining from his face.

"Don't lie to me. I know you killed them!" She said, raising her voice. Her emerald eyes burned with rage.

Just then, they came to a stop in front of Sota's house.

"You've got me." He said dragging her inside. "I did kill them; and now you're stuck with me." He added, throwing Azalea into a room.

She cried all night, receiving a few strikes to her face from Sota when he was tired from hearing her cries. It was only the first night and she already hated it. That night Azalea had a dream of a boy around her age with pitch black hair and golden eyes. He looked so familiar and comforting.

Thank you for reading! Yes I did decide to make another story. I was listening to music and suddenly I just needed to start writing, but not the same kind of story as The Ticking Rust. I hoped you liked this part though!
