"Ugh shit, where's my laptop, I can't be late in my first day." Said a fresh graduate from NYU with her frazzled face running to her room to grab her bag. "Ok laptop check! Now WHERE IS MY COFFEE?" She glanced at her pantry - "Oh there it is! Phew.. ok Athena.. you can do this." Just as she took a deep breath, she quickly realized that SHE IS LATE. She quickly grabbed her coat then sprinted out from her apartment .
Athena Li. A fresh-grad with a bachelor degree in International Business hoping her first day goes well. Athena decided to wear a long flowy long sleeve blouse tucked in with a mid length black pencil skirt. Really basic huh? At least you won't get bad impressions on your firsr day, you can never go wrong with basics. Right?
She rushed out from the subway station and nearly tripped from the stairs. "I AM SO SORRY, I AM IN A RUSH RIGHT NOW," she said while bumping other individuals. After a marathon, she finally got there, Z corps. The largest independent automotive company in the East Coast. She strolled in the building, while panting of course because of the bloody rush she went through. "Wow that receptionist table looks rich, oh that chandelier mmph gorgeous, omg even the air smells rich," she said with her hand on her mouth as a form of disbelief that she's actually stepping on THE Z CORPS. "OK now, where's the lift? Oh there it is." With excitement she went in. At freaking last, she is actually feeling that her first day will go as planned. But just as she was waiting for the other co-workers to hop in the lift, "Watch where ur moving!" then a splash was heard. Yes, you guessed it, athena's coffee got spilled ALL OVER her white blouse. Every single person looked at athena, she was speechless. She couldn't say anything for a quick 15 seconds, but then... "PEOPLE OF NEW YORK CITY, ARE YOU TESTING ME RIGHT NOW," *ding . The elevator stopped, thankfully. Cause if it didn't, athena would rant for 2 decades. She quickly took another deep deep breath, then sauntered out from the elevator with her not so white blouse.
Just from a step out from the elevator, a friendly voice came. "Hi there, you must be Athena Li, OH wow.. what an interesting hmm choice of wardrobe today." said the friendly voice. "Ok that's kinda funny, I had an accident in the lift yada yada yada, you DON'T wanna hear about it, oh but I am Athena, nice to meet you, you are? " Athena said with an exhausted tone. " I'm Mowry, I work at human resources, I am a year older than you and I am going to be your guide today, let's skip the formality and get you to your workspace! Ok? Lovely now follow me." Athena followed Mowry and Mowry surprisingly walks really fast with that pink silletos she's wearing. From the first glimpse, Athena already adored Mowry. She wore a lacey cream top with a baby pink cardigan above it and a midi flowy cream skirt. "Ok, here's your workspace Athena, now I want you to gather with the other new people in the glass room first please, can you do that?" Mowry asked with her cheerful voice that radiates sunshine. Athena felt like she was treated like a kindergartener but not in a condescending way, it was just really sweet. "Ok Mowry, thank you so much" Athena answered while walking to the glassroom and taking a seat.
The room was really noisy, it had about 12 peoople, all of them were introducing themselves to one another, but not Athena. She looked at the other new workers in that room with a nervous smile trying to find if there is someone else with a stained outfit. "Oh God, I'm gonna be that clumsy new girl with the stained blouse on her first day,shit." When she cursed that last word out loud, the room suddenly became silent and the only thing she heard was footsteps approaching her seat. She instantly had this confused face, "Well Ms. Coffee shirt, that wasn't a nice word, was it?" said a deep voice. Athena stood up and turned around facing that man at once. "I- I am so- sorry, you know I had this bad morning and then a random guy just had to bump into-" . "That's enough," Athena was suddenly interrupted. "I don't care and I don't want to hear about your day and how you are a blabbermouth, now people introduce yourself to me, my name is James Zhong and I'm the chief operating officer of Z corps " The man walked to the center of the room and Athena just stood there not knowing what to do compeletly frozen after being called a blabbermouth. " Ms.Coffee shirt, you can have a seat, oh- and you don't have to introduce yourself again" said the man. Athena took a seat and just watched the other 11 people introduce themselves, as they were doing that, that man assigned each person which department they will be working at. But... he skipped Athena. "Ok, everyone now knows your department,now you can leave and please do NOT DISSAPOINT ME in your first day," the other people and Mr.Zhong instantly left the room. Athena was so frazzled, she then approached Mowry and asked her, "Hey Mowry, quick question, what department am I working in?". Mowry answered, "Oh you are in corporate planning department, go to the 12th floor and ask for your first job from the person responsible there." Athena finally felt relieved, "Phew, okay.. now who's the person in charge in the department?" Mowry answered "Mr Zhong Duh." Athena felt like her heart was dropping to the floor, " WHA- HOW- WHY? isn't he the COO, why is he in corporate planning," athena said with a complaining tone. Mowry giggled a bit then said, "Honey, as far as I've known planning has a big role in operating, you should be grateful, you're in that department cause you have a good resume, people would kill for working directly under Mr.Zhong in corporate planning, most of them just ended up in marketing." Athena has never had this mixed feelings ever before, she then said thanks to Mowry and went to the 12th floor with a straight face not knowing how to respond to the situation she's facing.
Mr Zhong looked young, he is young, he's only 26 (yes that is very young for someone with a COO position) . Although he's a nepo baby and a silver spoon, he's incredibly smart. He graduated from University of Princeton with cum laude. He is really tall,probably 185 cm, Overall he has good built and his face is above average. His personality... not many people know much about him, he's a really private person according to magazines. But Athena already had her own judgement of him. "He's an unpolite, snobby, sarcastic, disrespectful man that ruined my day," that was the voice of her head when she was walking towards his office room.
His room is humongous, it had a chandelier, an aquarium and a space to display his watches and sport cars miniatures. Athena went towards him while still in awe because of the room. Mr.Zhong on the other hand was facing to the window outside, to translate this it means he's pretending athena isn't there. Athena finally had the courage to speak, "Hi I'm Athena Li, I was informed i'll be working in this department and working under you, Mr.Zhong, so what's the first thing I need to do?" The room was silent for a minute until Mr Zhong turned around and went around his desk walking towards Athena, with only 5 cm of distance, Athena was startled. "Well we meet again, coffee shirt."
