How could he have said all that stuff to me? I wasn't the one who had started dating my colleague. I wasn't the one that just dipped out of the friendship. That wasn't me.
I wiped my tears with the spare tissue I had in my purse, noticing it had started to drizzle rain a little. Just my luck. I still had another five minute walk before I got to work.
I heard quiet footsteps behind me, that is until they caught up, "hey, Blayke, are you okay?" Matthew had followed me. It was a sweet gesture, but now he was also going to get drenched in the rain. Because it was now coming down quite harshly.
"Yes I'm fine, I promise. You're getting soaked. Are you going to be okay?" I asked as I tried to keep the water from being in my eyes.
He laughed, "it's just rain, don't worry I won't melt. You know what this calls for?" He smiled at me.
Me, not getting what he was saying, shook my head. "No I have no idea, what does this call for?"
"Dancing in the rain, come on, dance with me," he extended his hand, and suddenly my mood was shifting. My tears had withered away and I was reaching for his hand.
He pulled me close to him, and we started slow dancing. I had just met this man today, and it felt like we were in a romantic scene in a movie. And I don't know if I ever wanted to leave the scene.
"Why don't you just call in for the rest of the day, because if not you're going to be soaked and miserable. I'll drive you home so you can get out of these wet things," he smiled at me, and for another time, he had a good idea.
As he said, he drove me to my house. We quietly walked inside as I started to make us some coffee since our coffee date was cut short. Once the coffee was brewing, I decided to go upstairs and change. I knew I had some clothes Matthew could borrow so he wouldn't have to stay in his drenched clothes and I could wash them for him.
As I walked past my picture frames in my bedroom, for the first time ever, I felt I could take them down. Matthew had been in my life for a solid few hours... which means I probably shouldn't have brought him to my house, but he already made me feel so special.
If he didn't kill me like in a horror movie, I would be all set. I walked back downstairs with a pair of dry clothes for him. "Don't worry, they're clean" I laughed quietly as I handed them over. Hopefully he wouldn't question why I had men's clothing at my house. It wasn't any of his business anyway.
"Oh thank you, so much. I'm going to go change." I pointed him to the restroom, smiling softly as he walked away. I made his coffee how I remembered he ordered it and placed it down for his return.

After coffee neither one of us wanted to leave, so we put on movie after movie. And soon enough, we ended up talking the night away over a bottle of wine and some spaghetti Matthew decided to whip up.We were currently sitting beside one another in front of my coffee table in the living room, putting together a puzzle. We were doing anything to stay together one second longer. "Where's the corner piece. I really hate puzzles." I mumbled as I searched through the five hundred puzzle pieces.
"Wait, look, here's one on the ground." Matthew picked it up and we both looked in his hand before making eye contact. I smiled softly, before looking down again.
He tilted my chin up, to look into my eyes once more before leaning in.
Is this it, is this where I get to kiss the guy? Is this the start to a happy ending?
I closed my eyes and also started to lean in, our lips touching softly. I could still taste the remnants of wine that lingered.
This was it. This was my happy day. I pulled away slowly and smiled at him, "wow," he gushed.
I blushed, turning back over to the puzzle. That was nice. Very, very nice. I had gotten farther relationship wise in one day with Matthew than in my whole relationship with Harry. Not that there was a time limit. But I deserved to be happy too.
