                           Let it rain

My friends and I had just left the ditch. We were walking home, Addison, Erica and I along with a few other people. But suddenly I saw my crush across the street: Alan Vega.

"Hay Alan!" I yelled across the road, knowing he'd hear. He turned and smiled, then ran to me. My heart was pounding as he said, "Hey Lily."

Addison had a bewildered look on her face. I introduced Erica and Addison to Alan. I gave Addison a meaningful look, and she winked as she understood. We separated ourselves from the crowd a bit, and we talked. "So you walk home this way?" I asked Alan. "Yeah, I live a few streets from the corner store." "No way ! Me too !" "Yes way !" Alan replied sarcasticly, and we laughed. Then it began raining.

As we got to the intersection, Erica went ahead, late to get home. Addison stayed behind to kiss her boyfriend, Nic, goodbye. I wasn't going to wait for her when I had a free chance to be alone with Alan! "Addison, hurry! We're going to go on, you can catch up," I yelled. Talking to Alan, I said, "Shall we go?" "We shall," he said, and we took off together. I began one of my pointless stories to keep up the conversation. "So then, I started laughing and didn't stop for ten minutes ! It was sooo great!" I finished, and Alan laughed hysterically. "You're soo funny! You're great !" We laughed together again.

Suddenly, he grabbed my wet hand(It was still raining) and held it. He held it like we were boyfriend and girlfriend. But as soon as he grabbed it, he let go. I looked up at his face to find him looking the other direction, red visible under his tan skin. Then I looked at his hand, so close, and I made the easiest decision of my life.

I took his hand in mine once more.

Then I turned red. He looked down at me, but I was looking at the ground. He tightened his grip on my hand to stop me in my tracks. I knew i had to look up at him, so I did.

His chocolate eyes stared back at me.  I held his gaze, and he put the hand not intertwined with mine under my chin, holding my jaw. He held my face up to his, and kissed me there, in the rain. I couldn't understand how my heart was still beating. Saying he's my 'crush' is a loose interpretaion of how I really feel about him. I've really liked him for 6th months, maybe more.

And the rain kept pouring.

Our lips unlocked, and I got a pen from bag. I wrote my number on his arm and thought of two questions that needed answering before Addison caught up.

"How long have you liked me?" I asked first, not wanting to break the silence. A few seconds passed, and Alan answered. "Months," he whispered. "Really?" I said. "Me too. Ever since that poster in reading we had to do as a group." He smiled at that, remembering. It was time for the second question: "Are we...togther now?" I asked, apprehensive. Alan smiled, took a second to think about it,got close to my face and whispered, "There's no beter honor then to be your boyfriend." I whispered back, "Congrats. You're my first."

Footsteps, loud and wet, sounded behind us. Alan let go of my habd, and we straightened up, but it was only Addison. I would have told her about Alan, but I just...wasn't ready. I'll tell her later; right now I just wnted to burn the feeling of kissing Alan into my brain forever.
