Lost Love
Ch.1
Someone snapped their fingers in front of my face from across the table and I came back to reality. “Hello, Earth to Jayson,” said my best buddy, Ray. “What? Oh- I must have blanked for a second there,” I said. “Thank you captain obvious,” he replied. I just rolled my eyes at him.
Ray turned back to his girlfriend, Jen. They started talking about something and she started giggling. Which was my cue to find something interesting to focus my attention on.
Ray and Jen have been dating for about a year now. They are all mushy-gushy. It annoys me to see their puppy love every day at the lunch table. It’s sickening even. The only reason I stay around them so much is because Jay is my best friend.
“Hey Jay,” Daniel said, taking the seat next to me. “What’s up Ray?” he said looking across the table. Jay was too busy flirting with his girlfriend to hear him. “All well- some things never get old,” I said. “Yeah you got that right,” he replied.
Just then, Rachel, Kaitlynn, Wesley, Tim, and Cain all took their seats. “Hey guys,” me and Daniel said at the same time. We looked at each other and laughed. We are the ‘twins’ of our friends. We constantly say the same things at the same time. We can even finish each other’s sentences.
“So, what’s on the agenda for tonight? Are we all hanging out or what?” Kaitlynn asked. “I don’t really know. Whose parents aren’t home for the weekend? We could have a little party for just the 8 of us,” Tim spoke up.
“Mine,” said Rachel, “we could have a pool party.” “Great idea Rachel, I bet Jayson over here is just dying to see you in a bikini,” Daniel said. I just rolled my eyes. Rachel blushed.
He has been trying to get me to go for a girl for like ever. Especially Rachel. He says she likes me and he can ‘tell’ I like her. But he knows I can’t get over- never mind. Not gonna think about he-that right now.
“So, are all you guys up for it?” I asked. I got a bunch of yes’s from each of them. “So plans are settled. What time?” “Hmm, how about 5:00 so we can eat lunch?” “Sounds good.”
*Little while later*
I sat down on my bed. I miss her. I sighed. I can’t believe I lost her. Just like that, she was gone. But I’m determined to find her. Even though she went missing a year ago, I’m positive she’s alive. She has to be. And once I find out who took her away, from me, from her family, they’re gonna pay. Big time.
*At the party*
“Hey Wesley, hey Kaitlynn,” I said as I walked in the door. They were sitting on the couch making out. Go figure. They didn’t look up so I walked out to the deck and found Ray sitting at the table talking to Tim and Daniel.
I sat down and got a couple muttered hello’s from them. “What I miss?” I asked. “Oh nothing. Rachel just left to get her bikini on,” Daniel said, wagging his eyebrows. I rolled my eyes.
Just then, Rachel walked out in a bright orange bikini. All the guys whistled, even me. She looked at me and blushed. I patted the seat next to me and she sat down. “What’s up guys?” she asked. “Same as before you went inside, except Jayson decided to join us,” Tim replied.
After a while of talking, no body had even mentioned swimming. So I got a bright idea. I stood up and picked up Rachel’s slender body. She screamed because she knew what I was gonna do. I jumped into the deep end of the pool with her in my arms.
We came up laughing. The others decided to join in and all cannon-balled into the pool. We all swam to the shallow end. “Chicken!” Kaitlynn screamed.
Kaitlynn got onto Wesley’s shoulders, Jen onto Ray’s, Rachel’s on mine, and Cain even got onto Tim’s shoulder’s since he was smaller. We all were wrestling and having a good time.
Me and Rachel ended up losing the first round because I tripped into the deep end, so Kaitlynn and Wesley won that one. But me and Rachel were undefeated for the rest of the chicken battles.
We were all lined up on the side of the pool, resting and trying to catch our breath. I looked at Rachel, and she was looking at me. I leaned in closer and she did the same. Our lips touched and she deepened the kiss. I thought about B-her, and I pulled away.
“What’s wrong Jay?” she asked, looking a little hurt. I sighed, “Nothing.” “Is it- her?” she asked. I nodded. “I understand,” she said. I looked at her, confused. She pulled me to the other side of the pull so we could talk in private.
Once we got there, she said, “I was dating this guy named Sebastian for over two years, and he went missing. They never have found him or a body and it’s been two years.”
I just stared at her in shock. “I-I’m sorry… I didn’t know…” I said. She sighed, “Don’t be.” I didn’t know what to say so I just stayed quiet. I turned her head to make her look at me, and then I kissed her.
