You quickly take a shower and straighten your hair. After all, it's you and Hayes' 1 year anniversary. You quickly put on a navy blue skater dress, nude heels, and the A necklace he gave you for your birthday. You apply some lipgloss and finally see, you're perfect.
Right on time, you hear your doorbell ring and run downstairs. Before you get there, your dad beats you and opens the door. "Mr. Grier." he says harshly.
"Hello, Mr. Graham. I'm here to pick up Adrienne for our d-date." Hayes stutters. Your dad raised an eyebrow but let's him in. Once Hayes' eyes meets yours, he's star struck. "Wow, Adrienne.... you look beautiful. He hands you a rose, which seemed like the one from your garden, and a box of chocolates.
"Thanks, Hayes." you kiss him on the cheek but earn a scolding look from your dad. "Bye dad, I'll see you later." You both rush out but soon are greeted by a sleek black Lexus. Hayes rushes over and grabs the door for you.
"My lady." you blush and get in. He closes the door then comes to sit beside you. You notice Nash is your chauffeur.
"Where to, happy couple?" he asks. Hayes whispers something in his ear and he nods. "Alright." you drive in silence, Hayes holding your hand, rubbing your knuckles with his thumb. He gives you an award winning smile and kisses your hand. "We're here." you thank Nash and Hayes helps you out.
You expected another restaurant but instead, you're in the middle of the woods. "Hayes? Where are we?" you ask, hesitant.
"Trust me, Adrienne. You'll love it." You followed him on the trail, pink flower petals scattered around on the ground. After a couple minutes, you arrived at the tree house where you both first met. It was an accident, actually. You said it was your treehouse, he said it was his. Later on you found out he agreed to share it with you because of how beautiful you were.
You take off your heels and climb up the ladder. "No peeking up my dress!" you shout from the top.
"I don't think you realize how much I respect you." you giggle and nod. Once you reach the top, it only takes seconds for Hayes to come up too. "It looks the same way from when we first met." he said, smiling like an idiot.
"And you haven't changed a bit." he softly kisses your lips, then holds your hand.
"Adrienne.... I gotta tell you something." he said, serious.
"Of course, you can tell me anything." he pulled out a small box from his pocket and played with it for a little bit.
"I've known you for a long time. And I realized you were the girl of my dreams... and to show how much I'm committed to you..." he opened the box. "I'm giving you this promise ring." you gasp and he smiles. He takes your hand and slides the ring onto your finger. "I'm in love with you, Adrienne... I truly am." tears form in your eyes.
"Hayes... I'm in love with you too." you hug him tightly and kiss his cheek. That evening, you spent it with only him, resting your head in his lap, him playing with your hair, and never forgetting his first I love you.
