"Is this old?" She chuckled, turning the phone side to side.
"In my defense, I found out about your birthday just today, so-"
"It's perfect, it doesn't have to be new. I assure you I'll use to text my mom and play some games; you actually didn't have to give me anything."
How can I tell her I wanted to so badly because I want to talk to her more?
"Consider it as an apology gift?" I shrugged.
"As you wish." She turned it on, curious.
Again, another silence, just the two of us looking at it while it turned on.
"I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings earlier, I truly didn't mean to."
"You already apologized, it's fine Sam"
Believe me, I wanted so bad to open up to her about who I really am, but I'm still afraid of it.
"No, really, I'm sorry Hayul, I think I ruined your birthday and I feel terrible about it-"
"How cool!!" She gasped, scaring me with her high pitched tone. I stared at her, and she immediately apologized.
"I'm sorry, it's just that one thing I do enjoy a lot is listening to music and here's a lot of it! Who's Stray K-"
"Gimme that!" I jumped to where she was, trying to take away the phone, but she stood up faster and moved away.
"Hey, give it to me!"
"Why? You just gave it!" She ran
"Because I want to show you something!"
"Just tell me what it is!"
"Hayul, give it just a second!" I was now chasing her all around the cabin. Amazingly lame how someone so small is successful of running away from me and refraining me to take the phone back.
"What's wrong with you?" She laughed, untill she tripped with the couch. Out of impulse, I threw myself to catch her, and of course, like a classic cliche, we fell. Hayul landed on the floor, and I landed on top of her, with my hand below her head just in time so she wouldn't hit herself.
We stared at each other for a few seconds. My heart was beating so loud, I'm sure she heard it. Funny thing is, I think I heard hers too.
It's the first time I actually admire her eyes, they're beautiful.
"H-here" she put the phone between our faces. I cleared my throat and pulled away from her, taking the phone.
I can't believe I deleted everything except for our songs. It's understandable since I wasn't really planning on giving it to someone, but still, that was a close one. I quickly deleted the few songs in it and returned her the phone.
"W-well I should go now, it's getting late."
"Yeah... sorry about.. that"
"What?"
"The fall"
"Oh no, don't worry about it, I'll just um.. I'll go now" I pointed at the door. I took off the blanket she gave me and returned it. She took it and went to the room to put it back.
Faster than ever, I grabbed again the phone and saved my phone number, you know, in case she needed something.
She came back and followed me to the door.
"Thank you for the present, Sam, and I'm sorry for acting the way I did earlier today."
"Hey, it's good, don't worry. I'm also sorry"
She smiled, looking down.
"Anyway, I'll see you tomorrow, at 10."
"Yeah, see you tomorrow." I waved and walked away, but turned around again. "If you need anything, just text me, okay?"
"I will, thanks" she went back inside and closed the door. I turned around again and walked down to my cabin, with the biggest smile ever.

3 am in the morning, it's freaking 3 am and I'm still awake, and I'll have to get up in a few hours to work with Hayul.I keep checking my phone to see if there's a message from her, but nothing. Of course there's nothing, she's probably well asleep right now, and I'm here waiting for a message.
But why hasn't she messaged me yet? I mean at least to say thank you again? To check if the phone works? Anything? What if it doesn't really work? What if she doesn't know how to use it?
Let's sleep Hyunjin, let's sleep.
