Chapter 14

"There's a guy called Jung Hoseok at my school. And he has orange hair too."

Taehyung's jaw dropped. He could simply not believe his ears.

"What?! How is this possible?! You must be mistaken, this simply cannot be true!," he exclaimed in terror, hoping this was the brunette's attempt of a horrible joke. But there was not a single sign of laughter on Jungkook's face.

"Trust me, I know who I'm talking about. Hoseok is pretty popular at our school, he's the type of guy that's just friends with everyone and stuff. There's no way this guy randomly escaped from a hidden kingdom, he's just your typical social, bubbly guy." Both of them needed some time to process this piece of information.

"Has he ever talked about his parents? Or his childhood?" Jungkook shrugged.
"I talked to him like, twice in my life. I just see him walking around a lot, it's not like we're close or anything. But then again, I think he said his childhood was boring once. And no one at our school ever saw his parents, as far as I know."

Taehyung huffed. "Of course. How could they, when his parents are actually the Duke and Duchess of Elysium?"
"Are you sure this is the same Jung Hoseok we're talking about? What if they were twins seperated at birth or something?"

"Very unlikely. The Duke and Duchess never had any twins. This-- This baffles me, I have to say." Jungkook nodded. "Yeah, this is crazy... Wait! I actually took a selfie with Hoseok once, he insisted on making new acquaintances and in our common world, that means selfies, selfies and more selfies. Where's my phone?"

While Jungkook was rummaging around for his phone, Taehyung was trying to recall what the Duke's son's face looked like. He remembered seeing a painting in the halls, a head with bright, orange hair and a young boy's painfully bored expression giving the whole portrait quite a dull vibe. Not an art piece that he had particularly appreciated, really. He also wondered what in the world a 'selfie' was, but received an answer to that question within less than a minute.

"Here. Can't believe I still have this, I normally delete stuff like this straight after taking it," Jungkook pulled him out of his thoughts, holding his phone inside his hand with a slightly blurry picture displayed on it. It had clearly been taken by a shaky hand, two boys' heads on it. A brown and an orange one. They were also smiling, one of them brightly (as bright as the literal sun, really) and the other one quite awkwardly. The crown prince gasped heavily.

"Goodness gracious, it really is him!," he exclaimed, now sitting so close to Jungkook he might've as well sat on his lap and examining the display with squinted eyes. "H-How..." He leaned back a bit, the back of his head almost touching the brunette's chest. "The angle looks quite strange to me, you could never draw a good portrait out of this!," he mumbled.

Jungkook laughed. "We don't take selfies to make portraits out of them, we take them to relive our memories in the future and post them on Social Media." The prince tilted his head in confusion.
"I'm afraid I do not understand. Do you mind telling me what exactly a 'selfie' is supposed to be? And please, what is a 'Social Media'?"

This particular situation reminded Jungkook of his grandparents being introduced into the modern world of technology but while fifteen-year old Jungkook had been utterly frustrated with his grandparents and their lack of understanding, this Jungkook surprisingly didn't feel annoyed at Taehyung in the slightest. Moreover, he found the prince's confusion about his world amusing. And just a tiny bit adorable.

And as he attempted to explain the purpose of Social Media aswell as selfies to Taehyung, the blue-haired prince furrowed his eyebrows and looked as if someone had just tried to convince him that pigs could fly. "Why would you wish to expose your face to the whole wide world? I'm already tired of servants recognizing me and treating me like some sort of rare treasure!," he exclaimed.
