"What? What is it?" Ziggy asked, looking at the skeleton hand on the table.
"Sarah Fier's hand," I mumbled in response.
"Nurse Lane... she spent her entire life looking for this. A way to stop the curse that took her daughter." Cindy spoke.
Alice started reading from Nurse Lane's diary. "Without her hand, her grip on the land holds firm. The curse will last until body and hand unite." She slid the hand over to me. "This leads us to the hand bone. And if the legend is true, that her body is still buried—"
"By the hanging tree." I interrupted.
"We can end this," Cindy said with relief in her voice. "No more murders, no more curse, no more..." She looks at Tommy's body. "Pain. We can save Shadyside...tonight!" Ziggy took the hand from in front of me before leaning over it. A red liquid dripped down her nose, landing on the bones.
"Shit, Ziggy." I groaned before getting up to look for napkins. As I walked into the kitchen I saw the knife that Cindy used to kill Tommy. I walked over to the draw with the clean knives and took one. Slipping it in my pocket, I grabbed the papers and walked back to the group. Ziggy looked horrified. Like she'd seen a ghost.
Cindy turned to me. "She saw the witch."
Taken aback by the words, I sat down before handing Ziggy the napkins. "She saw Sarah offer she bleed on her bones. Right?" Everyone nodded. "She's more than likely going to be haunted by Fier now. I'm pretty sure that only one person can be haunted at a time."
"Y/n, what's your point?" Cindy asked, clearly picking up on where I was going.
"Simple, I'll cut my hand and bleed on her bones." I continued. "I'm sacrificing my blood so that Ziggy won't be haunted." I took out the knife that was stashed in my pocket.
"Y/n!" Cindy yelled in protest. Practically everyone at the table was telling me not to. Ignoring them, I cut my hand and put it directly on her bones. Clouding my vision was pure red. Screams echoed from all around me. Sarah Fier's face appeared in front of me, screaming. She wanted something, she wouldn't stop until she got it. The feeling of somebody shaking my shoulder was enough to bring me back to reality.
"Are you okay?" Ziggy asked before pulling me into a tight hug. "You didn't have to do that."
"You come first," I whispered before pulling apart from the hug. Taking one of the leftover napkins I dried the blood. Looking up at Cindy and Alice, I stood up. "We have to bury this thing...right fucking now." Cindy nodded before running into the back.
Once she came back out, she gave Ziggy and me a shovel. "Ok, let's go."
"What I have to use my hands?" Alice joked.
"No, you're staying here," Cindy ordered.
"Come on, I can hop just fine." Alice hopped forward before turning around. Cindy gave her a look. "I watched my dad go to jail when I was six. I watched my mom steal...so I could eat. First time I cut myself I was 12. It was after...Well, you know what. And now tonight... I watched your perfect boyfriend, turn into a monster and kill the only person I've ever loved." She cried. "I've waited... any whole fucking life for this. And now I've found it. Let me see this through. For Arnie... For Tommy... For Shadyside."
"For Shadyside," Cindy repeated before looking at Ziggy and me.
"For Shadyside." We nodded.
"Alice!" Cindy screamed. Looking behind her was...Tommy. Impossible. He died. Alice turned around before being slashed. Cindy ran up to Tommy and hit him with her shovel. Ramming it against his neck she pushed it further. "Fucking die! Why won't you fucking die!" Cindy cried before beheading her own boyfriend. Dropping to the floor Cindy kneeled next to Alice. "Stay with me. Alice. Alice!"
Is that singing? Ruby! Oh my fucking God. "Lane!" I spoke.
"Right, get her diary." Cindy sniffled.
"Her diary? Oh, well I was talking about her hot daughter. She's here."
"Is that who's singing?" Ziggy whispered to me. I nodded. Cindy and Ziggy stood up before walking closer to the sound. Following them, we walked to the hole that Alice is from. An empty came out of it, the other had a switchblade.
"Run! Run!" Cindy yelled. I ran over to the table and grabbed my knife, along with my shovel. Opening the doors the three of us ran out.
