Isi lay flat on her bed, staring up at the ceiling. She gripped her phone on her chest. She had input Quinn's number in her phone, and now there was the question of whether she would even call him.

Could he get to Switzerland? Probably. But Isi definitely didn't want him knowing where she went to school. She'd have to try to get down to Geneva in the next few days.

They had a break for Thanksgiving, to cater to the American students. The first day was already over, eaten up by their flight across the Atlantic, and she'd made plans with Tucker to eat at the dining hall for their Thanksgiving celebration, but Friday and the whole weekend were both free.

She sat up too fast and paused, ignoring the head rush. She could call Quinn now... ask him to get over here. It would give him time to take a plane if he needed...

But he'd recognized her area code. Caroline had said he'd loved technology. What if that transferred to being able to hack or track her phone? What if she would lead him there just by calling? He could be tracking her right now...

Isi shook her head. She had to do something about this. Slipping under her bed, she pulled out a thick binder, where she'd photocopied pages from a grimoire, a spellbook. She'd never even thought of using some of the spells in those pages, but there must be one that would protect or block...

She had to go to bed soon, but Isi marked the pages with protective spells on them with purple Post-It notes. She could read them more in-depth in the morning and see which ones were feasible to get her phone off the grid.

Though on Thursday Isi had plenty to do, she found time to narrow down the spells to one that might work with some adjustments. After she got back to her dorm after dinner with Tucker, she pulled up her video chat function on her laptop to call her dad.

After they spoke about the typical holiday things, Isi brought up the spell.

"Whatever do you need that for?" V asked.

"Does that mean you won't help me?"

"I want to know why before I make a judgement."

Isi bit her lip. She had told V some things over the course of the last few weeks, but what would he say at her interactions with Quinn? But she couldn't lie to him. She literally couldn't bring herself to do it. And he might have had some insight, too, so she started from the very beginning and told him everything. All the events, her reactions, all about Quinn and Caroline, the fires, Quinn's idea that they could somehow stop Hellfire.

When she stopped for breath, V said, "I'm glad you told me."

"I want to call him," she said.

"Why should you, starling?"

Isi shifted, briefly forgetting he could see her awkward and nervous motions. "What do you mean?"

"I mean that the police and the other authorities will have it all well under control, Elisabeta," V said.

"Really? Even if it's a witch or a demon?"
