I was getting ready for a hospital visit to see my grandfather, who is on life support after getting into a bad accident in central LA. I was wearing a baby pink cropped sweatshirt with light washed blue jeans paired with my favorite pair of white air force 1's. As I was getting finished with my makeup my sister came barging in yelling at me to hurry up.
" Hurry up Janet! we're going to be late you know I have to meet Trey after this "
"Whatever Bri you know Trey not gone care where you be"
"Yea he will now hurry yo ass up !"
As I came downstairs I saw concert tickets on the table for Roddy Ricch
"Yo Bri ! who these tickets for ?"
"Us, duh"
"No way! you the best !"
"Yea I know. Now get in the car."

An uncomfortable silence fell over the room while we all kind of watched grandpa resting nurses coming in and out every once in a while to check on him. My phone was going to die so I went to plug it up and I accidentally tripped on grandpa's life support machine.
Nurses barged in so quickly shouting for us to evacuate the room so they could fix it it felt so surreal, like an episode of Grey's Anatomy.
I felt so bad I immediately apologized to Bri she right away told me not to worry and that it was going to be alright. I feel like that wasn't true because we're in the hospital in the hood. Niggas don't go here to live, they go here to die but I digress.
We got in the car to get something to eat since we hadn't eaten all day. The music immediately started to blast in the all-black corvette ; 0 to 100 / The Catch Up - Drake

We pulled up to Chipotle and I sat down while Bri ordered for us. Immediately this brown skin boy with the prettiest gentle hazel eyes I've ever seen and flashed me a smile with the whitest teeth I've ever seen and came over to the table.
"Hey shorty"

"You're cute lemme get yo digits"

"Cool .. I'll text you maybe we'll do some"

"Hey, I never got your name."
"Janet." I said smiling
"Cool."
"You not gone tell me yours ?
"Nope." He whispered in my ear "I'm a mystery" and winked
He flashed me another smile again and left to go back to his homeboys.
"Who was that?" Bri said coming back with the food I smiled sheepishly
"I don't know what you're talking about"
"Yeah okay. Just be careful, you in my care now not tryna have mom call me saying I'm a bad guardian and sister because I'm not paying enough attention to you, you hear me?"
"Yea I feel you. I'll be careful, promise."
"You better be you only 15 don't need to be like them fast ass little girls out here." she said chewing on a chip.
