Ryan's school recently started a program, where for no fee you can go to a different country and go to school there. Ryan thought this was an interesting prospect, and an opportunity to make friends.

Ryan is a g.9 student finishing his exams. Yet for g.10 he and his parents decided going to a different country for school would give Ryan a lot more life experience, and would probably help him get into a college. There were a lot of benefits.

Ryan was 5'0 and almost underweight, he was only really good at academics, and in fact was terrible at sports. Sometimes people would joke that because of his a androgynous voice (maybe a LITTLE higher pitched) and his physical appearance that he was supposed to be a girl. Though few and far between comments like this made Ryan very self conscious, and made him an all around shyer person cause he subconsciously thought people wouldn't take him seriously.

However Ryan would be a lot more normal in a different country, such as an asian country where people are shorter.

On the last day of exams Ryan was to go to the principals office to fill out paperwork with her and choose a country to go to off of a list (he was told he could always be denied and have to be move somewhere else.)

Ryans principal was very co operative and Ryan chose his country, Japan. Ryan chose japan because he had heard people were shorter there. And also because he was overconfident in his ability to learn the language over the summer.

At the same time a girl grade 6 going grade 7 who was 12 years old was entering the same program and also chose japan, her name was Rylee.
