The trip from Madison, WI to where Maya and Owen would be living in Northern California was about a day's drive. It was during the road trip that Owen had taken Maya out on a first and second date when they had stopped for lunch and dinner. They then spent their first night together in a hotel, where they watched movies until they fell asleep. When morning came, they had breakfast in the hotel's common area before hitting the road again.
