prompt: Dream has a fear of loud noises, causing him to slightly freak out when an aggressive storm was ahead.
Thunder boomed and clapped outside the walls of Dream and George house.
Dream had always had a bunch of irrational fears such as big mascot costumes, butterflies, snakes, but the biggest out of all had to be storms. The loud thunder like bowling balls in the sky, lightning ready to strike anything in its path, wind that was strong enough to blow trees down. Maybe he was overthinking or being melodramatic but it was still keeping him wide awake, unlike his boyfriend who was sleeping like a baby.
He wondered how he could sleep easily--be so undisturbed-- through the raging storm that'd been occurring since around 9pm, he didn't toss or turn at all unlike Dream. He'd done everything to get comfortable or distract himself, everything ranging from prying Georges limp arm up to put it over himself; switching positions and even going as far as to try and sleep on the floor; he threw the covers off and on again and tried to play music to block out the noise of cracking thunder; and on top of that he changed into Georges clothes--thinking they'd comfort him but to no avail. He now sat on the floor, chipping the black nail polish off of his nails as he was caught up in his own thoughts.
It was a miracle and mystery George was able to stay asleep as long as he did with all of Dreams ruckus and tossing and turning--but it didn't last forever when George finally sat up and rubbed the sleepiness from his vision. His eyes settled on Dream after becoming more aware of everything, including the alarm clock on the bedside table that illuminated the numbers, "2:59", in a bright blue glow.
"Dream? What're you doing?" He asked after a few moments of silence. George fell asleep not long after Dream did, however, he wasn't surprised he'd woken back up with all the rumbling booms of thunder outside.
"Nothing, just can't sleep." He shook his head trying to dismiss it as he stood up. George held his arms open for his lover who was approaching, he figured that physical comfort would ease his bundle of nerves.
As the two layed down together, George wrapping his arms around Dream and Dream laying his head on his chest, they both relaxed. He listened to his heartbeat steadying, his breathing slowing down as he played with his hair in his hands. Dream could feel his eyes getting heavier and heavier with every second that passed by. Georges attention and comfort seemed to be a perfect distraction for him--as he was already passed out from the countless hours he'd stayed up paranoid.
George had stayed up a bit longer to make sure Dream wouldn't stir anymore, and once he felt everything was fine, he too fell asleep.
