Flying back home was harder than I thought it would be. I am writing this down in my journal as per request of my parents before..they died. My name is Estella Gilbert, and my parents had died in a car accident about a year and a half ago. I wasn't home when they had passed. My mother had suggested I visit my godfather Charlie in Washington for two weeks, stating that I should get to know him. He was a nice guy, very welcoming, as if he knew me for years although I have only ever heard about him from my parents before now meeting him for the first time. They had died the first week of my visit, I had gotten the call about it from my brother. After I lost my parents, my sister Elena and little brother Jeremy were placed in the custody of aunt Jenna. I couldn't find it in myself to return home. I decided that I would stay in Washington and Charlie was more than understanding of my decision, allowing me to stay at his house for the year. Of course I missed my siblings and would call them all the time, but eventually they became caught up in their lives I started hearing from them less and less and soon I had started a new life in Washington. I had started high school here, making new friends and even had a boyfriend named Ethan. I had started to feel normal once again, it was all I wanted: a sense of normalcy, that life would move on for me, just as it did for my siblings. But of course my peaceful new life in Washington would not last. Seeing as I was still under age, I was to be placed under aunt Jenna's custody as well. I had heard Charlie argue with Aunt Jenna over the phone about me staying here, while aunt Jenna wanted me to come back home. When aunt Jenna had sent court orders of my return home under her custody, Charlie had no choice but to send me back. Two weeks later he had taken me to the airport to send me off. He gave me a big hug before I boarded, making me promise that I would come and visit again. After promising him I would I boarded the plane and am currently on my flight home. I was going to miss Washington and the life I made there. Washington is so different from Virginia. It's always rainy and cold  there, but I didn't mind it. The weather had followed me through my grief. It feels weird knowing that when I had left Mystic Falls, I didn't know that I would never see my parents again, and now I have to deal with what I had been holding off for a year. I have no clue how I could start all over when I get home, but I don't really have a choice.

An hour later, the plane had landed. Grabbing my luggage, the rest of my belongings was shipped over in the past two weeks of my departure, I walked to the front of the airport. Upon walking down the steps of the pickup area, I see a young, honey blonde woman, my mother's younger sister, Jenna. She held a silly sign with my name on it. Upon seeing me, she smiled widely and hugged me. I hugged her back, dropping my luggage. She pulled back to look at me.
