Chapter 1

I groan and stare at the orphanage wall. I've been here for a month. Ever since they caught my dad I've been and twelve foster homes. I've been abused orally, physically and sexually. MY OWN FATHER DID THAT. Here at Smiles for Kids Orphanage I've got no friends, because to everyone I'm that emo looser 12 year old that cuts. I sigh and sit back on the bed. I hear some squeaks from downstairs but ignore it. Someone probably got adopted to a "perfect" little family. I roll my eyes, why did everything bad happen to me? Why not some one else? You may think I'm being selfish but if you know what I've gone through then.... I sigh and run my had through my blonde curls.

I hear a knock at the door.

"Emily?" Cassidy the caretaker asks from the other side of the door.

I let out a humph,"What?"

"Someone's here to see you."

I freeze to see me??? Impossible. It's probably some drunk that will rape me again or kick me.

"TELL THEM TO GO AWAY!" I shout. I can almost sense Cassidy roll her eyes.

"emily.." She warns... "They've adopted you."

My eyes widen and the door slams open leaving me more shocked than I was.

Liam's POV

I lean my head against the car window. Uncle Simon told us we were going to an orphanage to adopt a child. He says it will be a great PR stunt.

"Boy or girl?" Niall asks.

"GIRL!" we all shout then burst out laughing. That was funny how we all said it at the same time.We pull up to the orphanage and walk in.

"Hi you must be One Direction." The lady says "I'm Cassidy the caretaker. Follow me and I will show you the children!" She says leading us

Into a new room with all these young kids lined up.

"Did Emily come down?" She asks. The kids giggle and shake their heads no.

"OMG PICK ME I LOVE YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!" a girl screams.

I ignore her and ask Cassidy,"Wheres Emily?"

Cassidy bites her lip and leans into my ear,"She's had a bad past and she's upstairs."

"I WANT TO ADOPT HER!" Louis screams. Cassidy nods and hands us a sheet to fill out which I sign the papers. Emily

Payne wow that sounds cool.

"May we see her?" She nods and leads us boys up the rickety staircase.

She walks up to a pink door and knocks,"Emily?" She asks.

We hear a humph and then a what from whom I'm assuming is Emily.

"Someone's here to see you."

"TELL THEM TO GO AWAY!" she screams.

I expect Cassidy to turn around but she walks right in and we follow.

"Emily theyve adopted you!"

We walk in to see a around a 12 year old girl with blonde curls sitting on the bed.
