Vereles was a simple cat with simple needs. Although her humans would often not listen to her pleas for food and affection she continued to live with them as she was more afraid of the outside world than she was of her own home.

The reason for this is because, on multiple occasions, the alpha male human returned home bruised and cut. When she asked him why he was in such a state he would only groan and garble gibberish.

"You know you can't keep living here, right? You know why they look like that, don't you?" It was the local nippie, Scabard. As usual he was at the window with his fluffy ginger face pused through thevwindow screen.
"Been on the catnip again Scab? Here to hand out your conspiracy theories again I'm guessing." Vereles responded.
"This one ain't of my conspiracies, I have some undeniable proof."
"Go on."
"I saw your alpha over at the wreck." He continued, "I know you're not out much but there's been a bit of human activity going over there over the last few months. Might be worth checking out."
Maybe he's right, or this is just another theory. Either way, I need to find out what's been going on.
"Scab"
"Yeah?"
"I think it's time I go outside."
"Are you sure? I mean sure you should, but it's dangerous."
"I know, but i have to know whats going on."
"Then I'm coming with you. Might even find some more catnip."
" Thanks. Maybe we should pass by Maggie's house on the way over."
"Good idea."
