Vereles and Scabard had arrived at the peach-coloured weatherboard home that was federation period and located four blocks down from Vereles' house.
They could hear arguing from inside. Undeniably feline but at the same time foreign. " This is Maggies house. Correct?" Vereles questioned.
"Times have changed since you've been wandering the street, Ver. Thats Russian. Since Maggie lost her job with the smugglers she couldn't pay the rent. So now she shares the house with Sasha, a Russian Blue. Strong as an ox, Sasha is."
"We better head inside. It's starting to rain." As they walked towards the house and onto the porch, they heard the arguing cease and and saw a flat, squashed, head peak around the open door. "Who is it???" Said the head, demandingly and heavily accented.
"It's Vereles and Scabard. We're here to see Maggie."
"Maggie should I let them in?"said the cat which they presumed was Sasha.
"Yes. Let them through." Said a high-pitched voice from behind the house's front window. As they sauntered inside Vereles was taken aback by the shear size of Sasha. She was twice the height of Vereles and even wider than that. It took a few seconds for Vereles to fully remove herself from her shocked state and move into the living room with Scabard to address the former smuggler, Maggie.
"Hey Maggs. How are you?" Scabard started.
"Bored as usual Scabs. Who's here with you?"
Vereles gazed over the tiny cat that spoke with such authority She was the size of a kitten but fully grown. It was hard to take her seriously.
" This is the owner of the alpha male seen last night."
"I'm guessing she has come to ask for assistance from me."said Maggie " I will assist you in this inquiry. Take Sasha with you. I think you'll find she will be more than usefull."
"Thank you, Maggs but we have one more favour to ask. Could you affrord to let us sleep here tonight? It is raining after all."
"Alright just don't eat out food." Responded Maggie after careful consideration.
"Right, Scabs tomorrow morning we head to the wreck! "
"Whatever just go to sleep." Said Scabard as he curled up on a pillow nearby.
