Jinyoung woke up from a violent shake wondering whether an earthquake was happening in the neighborhood. But it was his wife, Mia shaking him with one hand while clutching her back with another. She is thirty eight weeks heavily pregnant with a huge belly.
“What’s wrong?” he jumped out from the bed seeing how she bent her body forward while screaming like she is pain.
“It’s happening,” she released another scream breathing soundly, “baby is coming you idiot. Get the bag.”
Jinyoung started to move like he is on adrenaline. He got the baby bag which was prepared few weeks back and the Mia's pregnancy file. He grabbed the bag he prepared for himself and dialed Jackson’s number in a hurry.
“Jackson Mia is having contractions.”
That’s all it took for Jackson to jump out of the bed waking Zoey up while doing so. “I’ll be there in ten minutes.”
Jinyoung already arranged with Jackson to drive him and Mia to hospital. Jackson lived few blocks down the lane and Jinyoung didn’t want to drive.
Mia was taken into the labour room as soon as they arrived at the hospital. Jinyoung held her hand tightly. No actually she held his hand tightly and Jinyoung wondered how did she get that strong. He could feel his hand getting squeezed like a lemon as she screamed in pain. Nurses and the doctor kept telling her to push when she feels the pain. Sweat has pooled on her forehead like little puddles.
“Push baby push,” he said while wiping sweat from her forehead.
“Shut up Park Jinyoung, it’s all your fault.” She snapped at him.
His face turned red with embarrassment but others didn’t seem to mind them. It was like they are used to this now.
Mia pushed hard holding her breath and her lips pressed together tightly. “one more push, we can see the head,” Doctor encouraged her.
Jinyoung almost felt weak by looking at her screaming but pushing harder. She had her legs up and bent and her back slight pushed upward. Her face was red like a cherry.
She took a deep breath and pushed again.
“Ok,” the doctor said taking the baby out and everyone moved like on autopilot. A midwife took the baby as doctor cut the umbilical code. She wrapped baby in a blanket and gave small punch. The room filled with a sharp cry coming from the bundle.
“Mrs. Park Congratulations, you just gave birth to a baby boy,” she handed over the baby to Mia.
Mia had her eyes blurred with tears but she was smiling. Jinyoung placed a soft kiss on her forehead.
“Yoon Minah, you did great baby. Thank you for bringing a beautiful baby to our world.”
Mia looked at him with teary eyes and then back at the baby who snuggled on her breast like he was a pro.
“Blue plane landed,” Jinyoung send a message to his group chat with the boys once they were back in the room.
Baby had fell asleep in the cot after feeding and Mia was sleeping on the bed. She looked weary but glowing. He dined the light and laid on the couch. He was feeling very contented inside his small world of three.
