They had been running for a while now and Ciara still had no clue where they were heading but Wrens words still kept running through her head on repeat.
"She shouldn't be here"
"She's a mystery, valuable..."
"The Glitch"
"What glitch?"
Ciara stopped in her tracks, Wren hadn't said that but that didn't sound like the usual voice in her head. "What did you say?" Ciara said quietly. She would have thought it was ridiculous to think she was hearing something, or even someone else in her head but after what she saw Ezra do nothing was impossible.
"I said what glitch?"
It actually responded. "Who are you?" Ciara questioned as Elijah continued to drag her along.
"You know you're not making this easy on the guy who is trying to help you." He sighed as he looked back, she clearly wasn't listening so with no other options he could think of he put one arm under her legs and the other against her back as he swept her up and continued on down the path.
"Who am I, who are you and why do you sound like someone else. Better yet if you are someone else how are you in my head, where are you?" The voice retorted sounding confused and mildly irritated at the events transpiring.
"I'm... well to be honest I don't know where I am but-" Ciara looked around trying to find some indication of where they were going before she realised she was being carried. "Umm, why am I in your arms Elijah?"
"Because you wouldn't move your ass and clearly weren't listening to what I was saying!" He retorted slightly irritated but too amused by her confusion for it to show.
"Well can you put me down and tell me where we're going?" She asked in as polite a voice as she could muster looking up into what she could see of his eyes. He sighed as he gently placed her on the ground. "We're heading towards Timain it's the next city over, we have people we know there. People we trust." This was all he said before turning and continuing to walk.
Ciara thought for a moment deciding if she should trust the voice with where they were going. They'll find out eventually if they're in my mind she thought as she tried to contact them again. "You ever heard of a place called Timain?"
The voice scoffed back at her. "Of course I have it's the main city everyone uses for miles, everyone has heard of it." The voice stopped for a second as realisation set in, "wait, have you not? Where are you from if you haven't heard of Timain?"
Silenced ensued for the majority of the walk as Ciara wasn't sure how to respond to the voices questions and they didn't seem to want to offer any easier ones.
It was getting late now, Elijah and Ciara had been walking all day, she was hungry and cold but the boys had helped her so much already she didn't want to complain, she knew very well that without them she would still be stuck with Wren and whatever ideas he had planned.
"We're almost there, there's a gas station coming up soon I'll get us some food and a jacket for you, I can practically hear you shaking." Ciara was about to say something to Elijahs remark but she was so cold she knew it was obvious and would fall upon deaf ears.
After their quick stop they continued back on the road, it was getting dark but apart from the occasional car driving past, the roads were silent and Elijah seemed hell bent on getting to their destination as quickly as possible.
"Where are you?" The voice suddenly perked up.
"What do you mean?"
"I'm in the city where are you?" Holy crap Ciara thought, whoever they were they were waiting for her in the city, she tried to decide whether she should tell Elijah but figured she didn't need to cause more issues.
