"I don't want a mate"
"Why the hell not?" Says caila. My bestfriend. She's been bugging me about this whole mate bullshit. Again.
"I just don't want a mate. That's it" seeing her annoyed expression makes me chuckle. "Oh cmon! The ball is coming up, seriously Fal, you might meet your mate there. And you can't reject him!" she exclaimed
The ball that she's talking about was the Annual Mate Ball thats gonna happen at the palace of the King. The Alpha King. It has been the norm since the beginning of times. That every wolf especially the unmated ones from all of the packs around the world will gather and find their other half, "MATE" at this ball.
I just barf at this idea. Just the thought of not having the will to choose the one I love really pissed me off. It's like you suddenly have to be with this someone because of a certain "mate bond connection" Seriously? Am I the only one who is repuled by this mate thing.
But then again I am a werewolf. And by being a werewolf means you will have a mate and you can't reject him/her.
Just my luck.
"I don't care about the damn ball. Or about meeting my mate. And if ever he found me. I'll make sure to hide and run as far as I can away from him"
"Geez fal! Really? I don't know what to say to change your mind. But you know we have to go right?"
"Ofcourse I know, atleast the food there is amazing. That's what i'm looking forward to!" I grinned sheepishly while caila laughs at me

The ball is in 2 days and Caila and I have gone shopping for our dress and mask.
Yup we have to wear a mask since the theme is Masquerade Ball.
Is it just me or is it just too fucking cliche, like some cheesy romantic shit. All for finding the love of your life, the half of your soul.
Yuck.
And to make it worse most of the Alpha around the world will be there. A lot of them hasn't found their mate the previous year. Thankfully I hadn't found mine!
Like he'll ever find me.
"Earth to falyn! Cmon we have to go meeting's about to start"
"Alright alright" i said standing up, fixing my shirt as caila and I head out to attend the meeting.
We have made it to the meeting hall and all of the unmated male and female are present. This meeting will be about the Ball. Just some reminders and something about the program.
Looking around the room, everyone seems to be excited and looking forward to the upcoming ball. Seriously guys? Having a mate is not all that. All of them have this hopeful and dreamy look already. Shaking my head I focused my attention to the elder in front.
"The Annual Mate Ball is exactly two days from now. And you already know that this year's theme is a Masquerade one, so do not forget your mask. Most of the unmated leaders around the world will be there so be on your best behavior. The mating dance will commence at exactly midnight-."
I tuned out after listening for a while. I know all those stuff already. I've attented the mate ball 3 times before. Different themes every year. Luckily, I went home still unmated.
You might be wondering how some are still unmated even after attending the ball. I'll tell you why. The palace is too fucking huge. And there were a lot of unmated wolves. Even though we have our heightened sense of smell it still hard to find the scent of your mate over those large packs of crowds. And I used that to my advantage. I'm actually really good at hiding.
Anyway, I just hope my pack members find their mates.
Even though I'm opposed to having a mate, I wish happiness for my pack members and friends. I will pray to the Moon Goddess that may they find what they're looking for at the ball.
As well as pray that I will go home still unmated
Because I can't have a mate.
