"Please don't do it I'll do any-" That's a sentence I'll never forget. I miss her, she couldn't have even been 12 at the time. I never knew her name but she was incredible. She stood at about 4,9 and always had a determined look on her face. We had many memories, but the day I met her will always be unforgettable.
It was September 9th 2002 when I was sitting outside playing with my new Star Wars figures. My mom had called me inside to help her with the laundry, As I walked in the door she stuck me in the face. When I fell to the ground I was kicked multiple times, And as I glanced back there she was.
She stood there with a horrified look on her face, and quickly walked away. I didn't know why my mom hit me that day. I mean at the time I was a 9 year old boy, what could I have done. I played with that girl for 4 years. We were Best-friends, but one day she was scared to go home. She told me she didn't wanna go. I walked her home and hugged her tightly. She walked inside and as I left, I heard her high pitched screams take over the silence. Her screams quickly turned to whimpers, and I never saw her again. I moved to my first school in 2007.
When I got there I was lost, and a boy name Linton offered to take me to my class. When I walked into the class I took my seat and waited until everyone got there. My teacher did attendance and had us all introduce ourselves. It was my turn so I stood up and put my head down and said, " I'm Avyn Toro, I'm 13, and this is my first year in public school." I then took my seat and listened to the others.
After we were done introducing ourselves we started class. I caught onto the math pretty quickly, and did especially good it history. After lunch we went outside and got to play for a bit, while we were outside I was invited to a friend group. I accepted and thats when I met my new friends. Karli, Aundre, Mai, Sylis, Jiro, and Linton. In our group we talked about the newest songs, crushes, and anime. I was surprised to make friends so easily.
I said bye to everyone and walked home. After 23 minutes of walking I arrived home, and when I walked inside I could se the empty beer bottles all over the counter. I hurried up the stairs and shut the door quietly. When I sat down I started my ELA and math assignments. When I finished my work I was gonna draw until my mom walked through the door.
When she got in my face I could smell the alcohol on her breath. She started screaming and I hadn't a clue why, "boy if you don't get in that kitchen and clean them dishes!" She screamed. I was in a hurry to do them, but while I was walking out she tripped me. I stood up and silently walked away.
I didn't know why she was so hard on me I try my best, I'll never end up like her I thought to myself. I started the dishes but when I picked one up it fell and completely shattered. " what the h🤬lol did you do this time boy! " she exclaimed. I- uh it was an accident I told her, but she wasn't having it. She charged over and shatter beer bottles over my head. I was in pain and ran to my bathroom. When I walked in I stood there with my eyes locked at my reflection. I had a new cut and this time, it couldn't be covered.
The next morning I walked into the bathroom, and used my moms foundation to cover the cut. It's still noticeable but with a hood over it, people won't see it. I get to school early and as I sit down " Avyn put your hood down." My teacher says. Well there goes the plan I think to myself. I ask to use the restroom and try to sneak out of school, but I was caught by Mai.
I was expecting her to snitch, but instead she asked if she could come with me. I was confused but agreed. We hurried off the school property and walked to the park. When we got there she asked me if she could ask me something. I didn't know if I should be worried. But I answered with "of course" " Well I've been paying attention to you lately and you seem off, are you okay?" She asked " I'm fine." I mumbled... "are your sure because I sense hesitation." She said " I'm sure haha." I replied back. " okay." She said back. We spent the rest of the school hours hanging out at the park. And when it was time to go, we said bye and I walked home. I walked into my room to find a note on my desk, but the handwriting wasn't familiar.

When you get this letter, be sure to pay attention to what it says. When you finish reading it keep the memory in you head, and rip up the paper and throw it out.
