The manager watched the teen girl that stood before her, jubilant as to why she would ever want to work here.
She was gorgeous, and judging by her clothing and hair, she had to come from money. Why would someone like her ever want to work late nights at a convenience store?? "Listen, Y/N-" he started, hands tapping on his notebook. "You are qualified to work here, but- maybe you shouldn't-" she looked at the guy with a confused face. "Why? Is there someone better for the job?" "Well, umm-" Y/N stopped for a second, deep in thought before sighing. "for the record, I also know the names of every well known brand of smokes. Also, I can fight." "Eh???"

I organized the messed up candies on the shelves, taking a long yawn from how late it was. After my worst fears being confirmed that little Daniel was the so called "piggy", I made the decision to work the same shift as him- to make sure that he stayed safe, yes, but also in an attempt to start making a living for myself, just in case Mr. Choi decided that he didn't need me anymore and cut me off completely. If it wasn't for my fighting experience and all the times Goo made me remember random wine and cigarette names because it was "supposed to be common knowledge", I might've not even gotten the job. Really makes me scared for when that day comes, and I have to find an actual job.
I felt bad for Daniel, seeing person after person come up to him with disgusted looks. He told me to deal with shelving and cleaning while he worked the cashier- but he didn't seem to be into it at all. As the night reached to 3 o clock (spooky...), less and less people started coming in, making us bored out of our minds. "Hey, Y/N-" Daniel suddenly mumbled from his seat, his face tinted red. "How can I- loose some pounds?"
"Man, don't let those idiots get to you-" I sighed, shoving the bags of chips back in place from a drunk costumer who threw them all around. "You're good the way you are." "No- I want to- for myself." He said, now more determined. "Really." "Well, maybe start with some jumping jacks, and then some push ups?" I laughed, turning back to him. Daniel's always been an inspiring one- always looking for ways to better himself. Suddenly, he started jumping up and down, puffing and puffing. "Like this?" He asked between jumps, flipping his arms up and down. "Wow- right now? Alright! That's the spirit- keep going-" I ran over, suddenly feeling the need to sound like a gym coach. "Three more- and then 20 push-ups?" "Twenty??? EHHH?" "Yeah! SHOW ME YOUR SPIRIT, DANIEL PARK-"
Suddenly, the door rang, cutting off our new exercising kick. "We-welcome!" Me and Daniel both yelled at the same time, getting up to see who was there. I stumbled back a step as I saw who was there. She only stared back at me with the same level of surprise.
Crystal?!
"Oh! Y/N- fancy seeing you here." She laughed, though she didn't seem amused at all. "I was just passing by. And- hehe, sorry. I used to work out a lot like that too!" She turned to Daniel, who looked completely in love. "If I made you feel bad, I'll apologize." She put two juice bottles on the counter, giving us another smile. "You two must be tired. Drink these." "Wait- Crystal- what are you doing around here-" I asked quickly, just as she headed for the door. "Nothing interesting." She laughed, flipping her hair back. "Dad's just gotten me to come and do some research here- you get it." I sighed as the word Dad left her lips- she's Always been the one to treat me as family, and yet she hasn't even talked to me or responded to any of my texts since I moved away. "Well, I'll be on my way now." She turned over again, waving us away. "Have a good night!" Me and Daniel only stood and watched as she left our lines of sight, walking away into the dark night.
