First kiss
Mark fiddled with his fingers anxiously, chewing on his bottom lip. From the surface at least, that evening was just like any other that he spent with his boyfriend. They were sitting on Yuta's sofa- vaguely paying attention to whatever movie was playing on screen, but today was different. Yuta, without fail, always tried to put on a marvel film on movie night. His boyfriend of two months had once again tried to get him into marvel by playing one of the films (iron dude??) while explaining all of the behind the scenes. Mark never ends up remembering, but seeing and hearing Yuta animatedly talking about his favourite film franchise was so endearing that he could do it for hours.
Unfortunately, Mark was paying even less attention than usual to the screen. Today was the day he and his boyfriend were finally going to kiss. It had been a long time coming- if Yuta didn't shower Mark with affection in so many other ways, he'd wonder about the integrity of their relationship.
Like clockwork, Mark would make sure his breath smelled fresh, that he dressed nicely (though not nice enough for Yuta to wonder why he'd would wear that to watch movies at home), and stared at Yuta enough to try and give him a hint- before waiting patiently with Yuta's arm around him for the moment to happen. Every week. It was frustrating, did Yuta feel that he needed an invitation? He shouldn't. Frankly, their friends kissed in front of them all the time- sometimes too much.
The previous week, Mark had decided that if Yuta wasn't kissing him that night, he'd take matters into his own hands the next. Dimmed lights and background noise while cuddled underneath a blanket was one of the most perfectly cliché moments to have your first kiss. Mark just had to stop worrying, it's not like Yuta was going to reject him- they were dating for a reason.
What if he did?
No, he wouldn't.
But what if..?
Fuck it.
"Hyung?"
"Yes jagiya?" Mark looked up at Yuta, who fondly smiling back down at him. Mark loves Yuta's smile.
"I- I have a surprise for you" The Canadian whispered, looking away for a moment.
"Oh really?" Yuta blinked owlishly at him, mind clearly racing to figure out what anniversary he'd forgotten this time.
"Yeah, just close your eyes okay?"
"Okay!!" Mark giggled as Yuta put his hands over his eyes childishly.
He breathed, slowly moving closer, before he realised that Yuta was looking through the slight crack in his fingers.
"No peeking"
"I wasn't!!"
Mark loved Yuta for many reasons, having thought of many when he'd been pining after his best friend, but the random stubbornness over trivia things wasn't one of them.
"Put your hands down okay?"
"Okay..? Markie what are you doing?" Yuta said, keeping his eyes squeezed shut this time.
Mark waited for a few seconds before leaning forwards again. He could feel the inhale and exhale of Yuta's breath hit his face with how close they were together at this moment. Yuta apparently felt it too, eyebrows furrowing, but his eyes were- thankfully- kept shut.
After what felt like an eternity, Mark pressed his lips against Yuta's. He smiled victoriously. He'd finally got his perfect kiss.
Well, that was until he felt Yuta smile back, whilst bringing up his right hand to cup Mark's jaw.
When they'd finally parted for air, Yuta spoke. "I've been waiting for you to do that for ages"
"Then you should have kissed me first, coward" Mark huffed. "I swear I have to do everything for myself"
Yuta ignored Mark, chuckling, leaning in again to press an even longer kiss to his boyfriend's lips.
