Alice said after a second.
"What is it? I'll do everything in my power to make it happen!" Iruma said.
" Under demons oath?" Alice said. There was an imperceivable amount of mirth and mischief in his eyes that Iruma just missed.
"It's probably just something along the lines of never approaching him again" Iruma thought depressing things.
"Sure. Under demons oath."
(Demons oath is something I made up for the story purposes. It basically means the accountable party will each need to hold up their side of the bargain or else they die a gruesome death to the Magic of the demons oath)
" I want you to marry me" Alice finally stated what he wanted in return for his forgiveness
"....m-ma-marriage???" Iruma stuttered out.
" yes, this is what you wanted as your end goal right?" For a second, it seemed as if power mixed with Alice's words. Maybe Alice was still scared of Iruma's answer despite the demon oath.
" I- I'd love to marry you. You just caught me off guard. I didn't even think you liked me and now you are proposing marriage. It'll take me a second to adjust" Iruma answered, dragging on his speech because of nervousness.
"Okay! Then as my fiancé, it is mandatory that I give you my family ring" Alice said while slipping a ring onto Iruma's hand. The ring way decorated with blue sapphires and rubies to represent Alice's family's household.
"Right! Your family, are they going to be okay with you marrying a boy? You are the last of your family besides your mother after all."
(Not a spoiler. Just my personal theory)
" ... My mother seems to have long since given up on me marrying a woman so I wouldn't worry about it" Alice said while tilting his head to show a bit of helplessness and embarrassment.
" Right when should we get married then?" Asked to divert the topic for Alice's sake. Alice always avoid the subject of his mother.
" hmm. We should wait until your rein on the nation has stabilized. So, about half a year"
"Works with me! In the meantime, we could start getting used to each others presence as lovers!" Iruma said happily.
