24th May 2015- Banglore, India Beachfront Bistro "So today's the day huh? The final time we'll all be together." Shreyas said. "I won't be surprised if the next time I will see y'all, you guys have a kid or two in your hands." Riya joked. "Yaar you know usually I don't agree with this sentimental and emotional crap but I have a proposal to make. In 5 years time, no matter where we are or what we are doing on the 1st of June we should all meet at this exact same cafe at 7:30pm sharp." Hardik said to which all of them agreed. "Deal",they all agreed with each other.
31st May 2020- Banglore , India (let's pretend there's no Covid) Kavya and Riya's apartment
"Urgh I'm gonna kill this shoe." Riya grunted as she slammed the door and threw her heel across the room. "Dude you ok?" Kavya, Riya's roommate, asked her. "This stupid Mehta initially gave me three months to complete the project and then he shortened it to two months and after all the insane all nighters I pulled, he rejected it. Apparently it's too ambiguous." She huffed as she plopped onto the couch. "ok wow. Douche." Kavya agreed with her, "maybe you should call up Abhi and see if there is a slot open for tomorrow night." She suggested. "Yes, this right here is why you're my best friend, Kavya Dessai." Riya exclaimed as she made her way into her room and got ready for a good nights sleep. She showered, changed into her pjs, and did her nightly skincare routine. She turned off the light and was going to dive onto the bed when her hand accidentally slammed against the bedside table and the photo frame atop fell down. "Crap", she hissed while picking it up and carefully disposing the broken glass. The photo was a little crumpled but all in all it remained pretty intact. She looked at the photo and started reminiscing the events that took place that day.
Shubman: I've not had such great food in a long time. Sneha: AGREED! Shreyas: Where now? Aadvika: hmm, let's go back and chill Hardik: go back?!? It's only 7pm, let's go hang somewhere Rahul: nahi yaar, gates close at 9 plus it's been a long day Anaya: exactly, let's go back Hardik: All of you guys are buzzkills, come on yaar. What about you Riya? Riya: I'm down but everyone wants to go back so... Hardik: finally someone like me! It's fine we can convince them Riya: ok then
After hours and hours of convincing they finally agreed to not go back
Rahul: ok one thing, we agreed to not go back to the hostel but where are we going? Shreyas: park? Shubman: park?! Seriously, it's 7:30 in the evening Riya: what about the beach? There is one nearby Rahul: sure, sounds like a plan
Meanwhile Aadvika texts Rahul Aadvika: are you agreeing because of the plan or cause of the person who proposed the plan? 😏 Rahul: shut up! The beach sounds nice 😒 Aadvika: sure sure 😜 Rahul: you better shut up 😌 Aadvika: alr did sir 😬
Hardik: ok guys, off your phones let's go quickly Riya: right behind ya mate! Rahul: mate? Riya: what? I've always wanted to say that. I can't pull that off can I? Rahul chuckles: never in a thousand years Riya: well point noted mate! ____________________________
Shreyas: how long are you gonna make us walk Riya? I'm not budging until you're telling me where we are going or where we even are. Riya: arre, chill shrey. We are not lost plus I have great navigation skills. Anyways we are already here we just need to go to that end Sneha whining: but why? The view here is nice! Riya: just come and see
After like umpteenth steps they finally reach the other end of the beach where there is a lighthouse-like tower
Anaya: What is this place? Riya: it used to be a lighthouse but construction stopped cause they found a better place. Shubman: that's so cool Hardik: yeah, I've even heard that a girl jumped off from here and her ghost haunts this place Shubaman: WHAT?! Riya: Arre, aisa kuch nahi hain, Harry's joking. Aadvika: haunted or not haunted, I'm going to the top, byeee! Riya: me too, bye people Rahul: Riya, wait for me Hardik: the rest of you coming? Sneha: are you kidding? It's 15 floors high! No way! Shreyas: yeah, I'm out Hardik: ok you chickens, Anaya you? Anaya: nah, I'm out Hardik: you too? It's not that high you know Shubman: if she doesn't want to go, let it be Hardik: ok fine, no forcing
Shreyas: what do you guys want to do meanwhile? Sneha: i don't know I guess we can play some game Shubman: not gonna lie, but the lighthouse seems so fun Shreyas: yeah then go na Shubman: nope its fine Sneha: ok, but actually does look like fun, look at them acting like idiots Anaya: you guys should go Shreyas: nope, we don't want to leave you wimp alone Anaya: hey, I'm not a wimp. I just can't stand heights. You should really go though Sneha: you sure, you two will be ok? Anaya: yessss, you're not going to another country it's just five minutes!! Stop being a mom yaar sneha Sneha: ok fine then come shrey, we'll go. Take care BETA! Anaya: okayy mummy
Anaya: shub, you should go to. Shubman: and leave you gutsy alone? Anaya: ha ha very funny, seriously it seems fun up there. You should go! Shubman: you also come then, I mean rather than sitting down here might as well go click some pictures Anaya: I wish I could but I'm too much of a wuss haha Shubman: come on seriously, I'll help you Anaya: you? Help me? Please Shubman: yes, me, help you. (Offering his hand to hold) come on Anaya: ok fine ____________________________ Hardik: hey, look who decided to show up! Shreyas: very funny, you guys looked like idiots so we thought we will come and show you guys how stupid you look. Hardik: look who's talking! Riya: okay guys, stop arguing. A/n AND WELCOME TO THE FIRST CHAPTER! I'm so excited to start this new chapter and hopefully you guys will continue showing your amazing support and showering my second baby with equal amount of votes and comments! 😜. Like I said the format of this book is very different. I thought it would be nice to make the writing style more mature as all the characters now are working adults and no longer college kids! Time stamps are not all that important but they do play a role as well cause I'm not going to be following chronological order so I thought I'd include time stamps so y'all won't get confused. And like I said this book will have a lot of references included in here especially for the first few chapters and in the sooner chapters it'll be parallels. I know this chapter is more flashback than actual content but fret not because a lot is coming your way- a lot of happy tears and sad tears included. All chapters will definitely be long given the writing style so updating will need more time than usual but I'll try my best! Hope y'all enjoyed it!
