Y/N sighed heavily as she rest back in her drivers seat, looking at her phone flooding with messages before she realised that it was in fact her friends spamming her, asking where she was, Y/N completely forgetting about her tradition with her friends at Petra's Diner, a family joint place that her friends that were local to Trost had introduced her to.

She had just finished a therapy session where she had unpacked a lot regarding her family, and picked up her phone to text Mikasa or Sasha privately, telling them she wouldn't come, but as she was about to do so, Sasha began to call, Y/N picking up reluctantly.

"Hey Sash." She said, holding her phones at arm length as Y/N was overwhelmed with chatter and noise in the background, the volume on her phone somehow at the highest, making Y/N's heart jump out of her chest.

"Hey babe! Where are you? We've already ordered if that's okay with you but we've been here ages." Sasha asked in her usual joyful tone as Y/N smiled, unable to resists Sasha's cheer.

"About that...rain check?"

"Oh. Is it what I think it is? If you're really worn out you don't have to come, but I think hanging out with all of us will cheer you up a bit. Think about it. No one will blame you for not coming though. See you maybe!"

"Thanks Sash. I love you."

"I love you the mostest. If you come I'll buy your food." Sasha kissed through the phone as she hung up, Y/N thinking hard to herself.

She put her seatbelt on and inhaled deeply. She was craving junk food and if Sasha was paying, how could she say no? Plus, Sasha was right. Hanging out with her friends always drastically improved her mood, and she needed a pick me up badly, and secretly, she was hoping that Levi would tag along, even though a worn in family diner seemed like the last place that Levi Ackerman would be with his friends, assuming he had any that weren't associated with his family.

Y/N's car meandered through gloomy forests, the windows rolled down so she could inhale the scent of fresh rain, picking up speed slightly as she gathered excitement to see her friends, and her newfound crush that was never ever going to happen.

no. we don't rely on men for little bursts of happiness!

She told herself before entering the diner, the soft music playing and chatter from teenagers from the high school near by, families dotted around on a Thursday evening, and her friends tucked away in a booth within an alcove, too many heads to notice if Levi was even there.

She made her way over as Mikasa spotted Y/N first, smiling before waving over at her best friend to come sit next to her, before the rest of her friends noticed her and all greeted her.

"Sorry we started without you. We were starving." Mikasa said in Y/N's ear as she shook her head, dismissing Mikasa's comment with her hand.

"It's fine. I would've felt crazy terrible if you guys did starve yourself for me."

"You wanna order? I want another drink so I'll just order for you as well." Sasha offered as Y/N nodded, Sasha sliding out of the booth as she went off to order for Y/N, knowing her order already. A burger with fried onions, extra fried onions with the fries, and a chocolate milkshake, with extra ice cream.
