Edit: y/n in this story will most likely have grey highlights in their hair from a special disease (inspired by my aunt haha) Since I am black I will try my best to not have y/n use aave since there may be a variety of readers.  I also want to put a full-on disclaimer that this story will be in 2nd person.

This story is a work in progress! There will most likely be multiple updates to chapters I do not like or feel like they could be fixed.

Walking to high school during the winter would always be your favorite.  Traveling through the deep snow as snowflakes pressed your nose and cheeks always had a feeling you couldn't explain.  Of course, you had your walking buddy.  Who in your opinion talked way too much.  Adjusting your earmuffs to the side you turned to them.  Watching their mouth move up and down, cheesing at the sight of the multiple peppermint stripped poles dipped in ice you quickly took one side off, you wouldn't just let your best friend talk complete nonsense without listening to a few sentences.

"What are you cheesing at?" Hands slowly moving to your sides, you noticed them walk closer to you.

"Nothing.  I mean- I'm just so proud of you you know? You're just accomplishing so much." He said as you both began to notice the crowds become larger, you were almost there.

"I appreciate your support," You began "But I honestly don't think I should be getting all the credit here."

"And why may that be?" Jean asked, waving at students as they walked past.

"I mean you've helped me so much with everything, and you're not even majoring in the medical field." Kicking some of the piles of dirt and snow off your white shoes you started to pick at dead skin.

"I promised your family before you moved I would help you in any way i could." He said. "And that's what i'm doing and will continue to do."

"I just wanna-" You sighed "I wanna thank you."

Jean's stare was long and hard, seeming as if he was staring into the soul of the god who created snow he blinked a few times. Starting to take in the comment you made a smile slowly started to grow on his face.

"Well, that's the first." He chuckled, grabbing the strap of his book bag he swung it across his arm.

Looking towards the sky you noticed a large snowflake fall. It was beautiful. Being in the perfect shape it looked sacred, something you'd see out of a Christmas movie. Strong winds blowing snow into a pile, the particularly large snowflake drifted towards you. Quickly putting your hands out you cupped them together.   The golden flake falling into your hands it quickly scattered, melted by the warm feeling of your hands.

Adjusting your earmuffs you started to sallow, don't get it twisted. You loved winter, but you didn't love how ironically you got cotton mouth. Coughing a few times jean turned around.

"You coming or what?" He shouted, turning to look back at you.

"Yeah, give me a second!" Wiping your hands on the side of your jeans you ran towards him.

"You must be worried?" He asked, walking onto campus ground.

"Nothing to be worried about. I have everything under control." You answered, truthfully, you couldn't feel anything.  No. it wasn't from how freezing it was outside, but, it was more so your emotions. You didn't feel nervous, or worried, just relaxed.  It could've been being able to see friends for the last time, or it being the last year of high-school right before college.

"Well, if I'm gonna be honest, I'm horrified.  Having to show my paintings in front of thousands of people? I don't think my stomachs up to that challenge." hunching from the heavyweight of the backpack he scratched his temple.

"You'll do amazing jean, trust me. Plus these paintings you have...you could become a millionaire jean i swear." Fixing his posture you gave a comforting smile.

"I guess we'll both be millionaires then won't we?"

"Damn right we will."

Continuing to walk up what seemed like a thousand flights of stairs you pulled out your phone. Still sulking about dropping an important piece of paper for today you at least needed to see if you took a screen shot.

"You know I've been thinking," Jean started "We should have a signature sign-off."

"A signature what?" You asked, roughly sliding past a group of people.

"You know how best friends have their secret handshakes and what not...why can't we have one? Like uhh, a whistle." He turned to face you, surprised by how hard it seemed you were thinking about this he stopped.

"You know when we were younger? And we played house, i wanted to play the father so bad to the point you'd automatically always let me. Well, i don't know if you remember but one day in the tent a song came on, and i'm pretty sure it was merry go round of life."

"Even if i don't remember YET I like that idea, I like that it a lot actually." He smiled patting your head.

"I'll see you later, okay?" You said, eyes focusing on how crowded the hallways were getting.

"I'll see you later."

black widow tease?
