Chaeyoung woke up instantly, her face covered in sweat as her eyes immediately landed on those beautiful brown eyes that she loved. Chaeyoung stared in shock, the tube from Lisa's mouth had been removed. But the one thing Chaeyoung didn't miss was the hurt in Lisa's eyes. The tears that were threatening to spill from those brown orbs and Chaeyoung panicked. She wanted to tell her how sorry she was, that she was in the wrong but those were stuck in her throat making Lisa the first one to speak up.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice was hoarse, her chest hurts and she was clearly in pain.
"Lisa... I..."
"You don't deserve to be here after what you did Chaeyoung. I tried to tell you... but you..." Lisa choked back a sob, a tear slipping from her eye. "You thought I lied. You walked away when you told me you wouldn't leave me."
"Lisa... please. I'm so sorry. I am so very sorry. I hurt you so badly. Sunmi... she told me so and I was supposed to give you the benefit of the doubt. But I didn't. Please forgive me Lis... please I'm so sorry."
Chaeyoung wanted to take her hand, but Lisa pulled it away, her face turning away from Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung was speechless. She had hurt Lisa so badly that Lisa didn't even want to look at her. Not even touch her.
"I should have never done this with you. I was fine being alone and you showed up. I think it's best we just go our separate ways Chaeyoung."
And that sent a knife through Chaeyoung's heart. "Lis... what are you saying?"
"You know what I mean Chaeyoung. This... whatever this is... it's over. You can keep the cash. I don't need it anyway. I'll be dead soon enough."
Chaeyoung steps back, again the tears that built up in her eyes had flowed over, her heart breaking into pieces as she tries to process everything that Lisa had just said. Her Lisa, the smart, beautiful and caring woman was gone. She was just stone cold, her face stoic as ever and she was nothing more than just a hollow vessel that was once holding such a great person. Her Lisa was gone. Chaeyoung didn't wait a second longer and bolted out the door, running towards the elevator and tapping repeatedly on the button. She had blown it. She had lost her. Lisa had given up on life altogether. She was going to die and Chaeyoung couldn't do anything about it. Racing out of the elevators of the first floor, Chaeyoung runs out and stands at the side walk, throwing up whatever was left in her system.
She hadn't felt this heartbroken in a lifetime. Not even when Wells died. This was the end. She didn't know if she could feel love anymore. Wiping her mouth, Chaeyoung stood up and looked at the oncoming traffic. Maybe in this world, Lisa would never forgive her. In this life, they weren't meant to be despite the sparks that flew between them. But maybe in the afterlife, Lisa could forgive her. And they could spend eternity together. With that, Chaeyoung closes her eyes and walks onto the road, waiting for the oncoming car to hit her.
"May we meet again Lisa."
And the world goes black.
"Chaeyoung wake up. Chaeyoung!!!"
Chaeyoung jolts awake, almost falling off the chair she was seated in, and looks up to see Jisoo standing beside her.
"Fuck... I'm sorry Jisoo..."
"Hey... It's okay. You were having a nightmare. Saw you thrashing around. So I came in." Chaeyoung breathes out a sigh of relief and thanks Jisoo by placing her hand over Jisoo's that was safely on her shoulder.
Chaeyoung looks away and over to Lisa, the tube in her throat had been taken out and replace with an oxygen tube to her nose, watching as Lisa was safely sound asleep. Her heartbeat remained the same, no change in the last couple of hours since she woke up to shift into the chair after crying endlessly on her lover's shoulders. Lisa was okay, she was fine.
